FIBER TO COME TO GARY CARLSON BUSINESS PARK

Businesses Look Forward to Increased Capacity and Savings

A new fiber-optic system that will provide high-speed Internet, telephone and cable television service will be installed in Gary Carlson Business Park in Leavenworth this year. Time Warner Cable Account Executive German Nieto shared the exciting news with LCDC in January.
LCDC led multiple initiatives over several years to bring fiber to the Business Park. A recent restructuring at Time Warner Cable allowed for Nieto to create the strongest case for fiber expansion yet, and Time Warner Cable agreed that bringing fiber to the Business Park makes financial sense.
Existing businesses in Gary Carlson Business Park will enjoy faster Internet speeds and cost savings once the fiber is in place. According to Nieto, the project will begin in the next several weeks and take about 30 days to complete.
LCDC will coordinate a ground breaking ceremony to celebrate this vital infrastructure improvement. Details will be announced via our website and Facebook page.

Attendees at LCDC's Annual Meeting on January 18 received an engaging, entertaining lesson about how airports operate and what a new terminal at KCI would mean to the Kansas City Region.
Mark VanLoh, Aviation Director for KCI Airport, gave a presentation packed with interesting facts and details about the plans for a new terminal in the next 5 years. The new terminal will address logistics issues, provide room for new security measures and machines, and allow the airport to capture 100% of the deicing fluid used (it currently captures only 33%). The terminal would be be built with funds from the FAA and issuance of airport revenue bonds.
VanLoh explained that without addressing the shortcomings of the 3 existing terminals, Kansas City will continue to lose out on regional and international opportunities. Attendees reported leaving LCDC's Annual Meeting with a greater understanding of the project and its necessity. For more information about VanLoh's presentation, read the Leavenworth Times article here.
