SHARE YOUR VISION FOR DRIPPING SPRINGS' FUTURE

Residents, business and property owners, and anyone interested in the future of Dripping Springs are invited to take part in the Sustainable Places Project Visioning Workshop on Thursday, September 27, at 6:30 pm at Dripping Springs Middle School, 111 Tiger Lane, in the cafeteria.

The SPP is an ambitious regional initiative to help Dripping Springs and other Central Texas cities create livable places that reflect community goals and values and that will thrive as the region continues to grow and change. The Visioning Workshop will feature lively, interactive conversations about the choices faced by Dripping Springs and by Central Texas - about housing, transportation, economic development, community health and vitality, the natural and cultural environment, and more. In Dripping Springs, the SPP team is working with City staff and community stakeholders to explore future development scenarios for the historic downtown along Mercer Street and the adjoining properties in the future town center.

As part of the SPP, we're also asking the community to show us the vision by submitting photos of the kind of place they'd like Dripping Springs to be. Specifically, we're seeking two kinds of images:

* Dripping Springs now: Photos of places and things in Dripping Springs you'd like to preserve and protect; and

* Dripping Springs future: Photos of places and things (which can be from anywhere) that you'd like to see more of in Dripping Springs.

You can submit your photos via e-mail to Chad Coburn at ccoburn@capcog.org or by visiting drippingsprings.sustainableplacesproject.com. Please be sure to let us know which images go with which of the two prompts ("now" or "future"), as well as any details about the images. We'll be displaying the photos we receive online as well as at SPP public events over the next year of work.

Learn more about SPP-Dripping Springs at www.drippingsprings.sustainableplacesproject.com or by contacting the City of Dripping Springs at 512-858-4725, or by email jthompson@cityofdrippingsprings.com

DS EDUCATION FOUNDATION

How many times have you heard people say they moved to Dripping Springs because of the outstanding reputation of our Schools?

Fortunately, DSISD ranks as one of the top districts in the nation and it has been recently proven that our students are better equipped for post-secondary education than most others.  The sad news is that we are also considered a "property rich" district and about $3 million of our tax dollars leave the district every year resulting in deeper budget cuts.  If you are concerned and would like to be involved, please consider volunteering at one or more of the Dripping Springs Education Foundation events.  The mission of the DSEF is to financially support the district allowing them to concentrate less on money and more on providing quality education.

Some events planned for this year are a golf tournament, a casino night gala, and a 5K & 10K run.  The DSEF Board will handle the planning, all you need to do is lend a hand at the event.  Who knows; the money you help raise may save a salary, continue a program, or provide a grant to a teacher to create new and innovative programs!

Please respond to Mark Handley.  mark@markhandley.com

WILD WEST FEST

Step back into history as the 4th Annual Wild West Fest returns on Saturday, October 20th at Dripping Springs Ranch Park!

Don't miss this year's line-up with spectacular events for all ages! The daylong celebration and family fun day offers western activities and other entertainment sure to please the local crowds and visitors to Dripping Springs. Day-time activities include an equestrian playday, a ranch rodeo, barrel races, a ride-the-hide race and goat show, arts and crafts vendors, a chili and salsa cook-off, pumpkin carving contest, an old fashioned pie recipe contest, kids' activities, heritage games and a haunted house. Kick up your heels and round out the activities at the dance to start after the ranch rodeo.

With an expected crowd of 3,000 people throughout the day, the Wild West Fest is a showcase venue to advertise your company and support Harrison Ranch Park. Event sponsors and in-kind donations are welcome and sponsorships are available at various levels of support from $50 to $1,000. Sponsorship dollars and donations will help provide direct festival expenses and contribute to the new amenities being built at the Park. Arts and Crafts vendors are wanted as well as live auction donors. For more information about the Wild West Fest, please go to www.dswildwestfest.com .

If you would like to volunteer or be a sponsor at the Wild West Fest or need more information about Dripping Springs Ranch Park, please call the City of Dripping Springs at 512-858-4725. Dripping Springs Ranch Park is a project of the City of Dripping Springs.
