State Transportation Funding   

Vote for ArlingtonOne of the items that state lawmakers will consider when they reconvene today is transportation funding item left over from the previous special session - actually, left over from serious consideration for about the last 8 years. Senate Joint Resolution 1 is posted here.

Arlington Housing Profile

In the last 20 years, Arlington's housing supply has not kept up in terms of size or value with competing cities in this region, particularly those in northeast Tarrant County. A review of a housing profile presented to the City Council about a month ago is posted here.

Light Up Arlington July 3

With live music, a Boomtown Children's Area, Radio Disney, fireworks, food and fun, Light Up Arlington brings family friendly entertainment to downtown. Two live music stages will be set up for your enjoyment, the Levitt Pavilion stage and the Coors Light stage. Headliner acts Young Stars of Arlington and The Spazmatics will perform during the event. The festivities run from 6 - 10:30 pm on July 3. Click here for more details.

Small, Minority- and Women-Owned Companies Wanting to do Business with TxDOT   

Members interested in becoming vendors for the Texas Department of Transportation in its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program are encouraged to participate in the department's update to its DBE inventory currently under way.   State of the School District Annual Address Planned for August 12

Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos and the Board of Trustees will present an update on the district and the progress of the plan, "Achieve Today. Excel Tomorrow." A "must hear" event for faculty, administrators, parents, Arlington business leaders, civic leaders and the media as Dr. Cavazos discusses new innovative programs and partnerships.

The Arlington Chamber celebrates the end of the fiscal year and the beginning of the new year at the Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner. The September 11 event at the Convention Center will feature entertainment, announcement of the 2013 STAR Award recipient and Business Hall of Fame inductions.  Click here to sponsor or register.
 
Women's Alliance to Hold Health & Wellness "Girls Night" at the Ballpark in Arlington
The Women's Alliance of the Arlington Chamber plans an exciting new event to be held at the Ballpark in Arlington in conjunction with a Rangers baseball game. A Health & Wellness "Girls Night at the Ballpark" will be held on September 10, with registration at 3:30 pm. The Tiara Tuesday event features: 
  • Health & wellness seminars from Arlington's leading hospitals, doctors and medical services.
  • Displays from leading Arlington health providers.
  • Dinner in the Hall of Fame area on Level 2.
  • Ticket to attend the 7:05 pm Ranger vs Pirates baseball game.

Inspired Women Luncheon Announces
Keynote Speaker - Vicki Hitzges

The Women's Alliance of the Arlington Chamber just announced the keynote speaker for the 3rd Annual Inspired Women Luncheon - Vicki Hitzges.

 

Vicki Hitzges started her career communicating with the public in the front office for the Dallas Cowboys. Fifteen years later, she hosted their weekly TV show, "Special  Edition." Vicki has also worked as a television news anchor and talk show host in Dallas where she interviewed five U.S. Presidents from Reagan to Clinton, as well as business moguls, movie stars and hall of fame athletes. Later, she became a publicist because she knew how to get clients featured on TV and radio as well as in magazine and newspaper stories. Vicki knows the value of stories, humor, practical content and audience interaction.
