Both public and private small business supporters will be honoring North Texas at this year's "Salute to Small Business" luncheon. We proudly announce NBC 5 Today Anchor, Deborah Ferguson as emcee of the luncheon co-hosted by the Arlington Chamber, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Small Business Development Center. The Arlington Chamber will also award its Small Businesses of the Year at the event.
The luncheon is Thursday, May 23 at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel.

Judge Whitley Delivers "State of the County" Address |
At the Chamber Foundation's State of the County lun cheon address last Thursday, County Judge B. Glen Whitley talked about the enthusiasm behind extending State Highway 360 south of Green Oaks Boulevard, and the eventual need for a new interchange at 360 and Interstate 30. |
House Passes Ban on Texting While Driving |
The Texas House passed a ban on texting while driving, and legislators are getting increasingly jumpy about how to pay for the water and transportation improvements they all acknowledge we need in Texas. A new legislative update is posted here.

Leadership Arlington
Youth Applications Due May 17 | Leadership Arlington is looking for applicants for the next class of Youth Leadership Arlington. This is an excellent program that gives Juniors in High School the opportunity to learn about a variety of areas in the city, including Government, Economic Development, and Arts and Culture, while building leadership skills.
Student applicants must attend Arlington ISD or live in the Arlington city limits. The student must also be entering their junior year in the fall of 2013. To download an application click here. |
