MU Public Health Registry Reporting
What You Need to Know
MU eligible professionals (EPs) must submit data to 2 public health registries in 2017 to meet Modified Stage 2 Objective 10. Although the objective includes 3 measure options, only the 2 below are available to EPs in Kansas.

Immunization Registry Reporting
Registry for Kansas EPs: KSWebIZ from KDHE
Exclusions: An EP can only exclude this option if no immunizations are provided.

Specialized Registry Reporting
Registry for Kansas EPs: Multiple options, please see below.
Exclusions: None for Connections EPs.

Note: Syndromic Surveillance Reporting is the third measure option. Since KDHE is not accepting data from EPs in ambulatory practices, the measure option is an exclusion for all Kansas EPs.
Specialized Registry Reporting Options
for Connections Members
There are many clinical data registries accepting data, but not all registries are used for public health reporting and accept data electronically, both of which are required to be considered an MU Specialized Registry. A registry must meet the requirements listed in CMS FAQ 13653 to be considered an MU Specialized Registry such as the one listed below.

Notifiable Conditions Registry (available from KDHE)
  • eClinicalWorks Users:  eCW is working on an interface to send data to this registry.
  • Other EHR Users:  KHIN participants using other EHRs can email their KHIN project manager to inquire about sending data to this registry.

CMS Centralized Repository of Registries
CMS has published a Centralized Repository for clinical data registry reporting. This repository is a list of registries that self-reported their capabilities to CMS. While it "is not the authoritative source of all reporting options currently available," the repository provides a great place to start if you're looking for a registry that accepts data electronically. Before selecting a registry from this list, check with your EHR vendor for a list of registries they can submit data to.
You Must Submit a Notice of Intent
If not previously submitted, a Notice of Intent to submit data must be sent to the registry within 60 days of the start of the reporting period.

KSWebIZ and Notifiable Conditions
The KDHE contact for these registries is Sophia Crossen (Sophia.Crossen@ks.gov). Email her to confirm whether or not your registration for the Notifiable Conditions registry (previously referred to as the Infectious Disease registry) has previously been received.
