HRSA Approved UDS Changes for Calendar Year 2015 (PAL 2015-05)

Table 4 - Selected Patient Characteristics: The number of dually eligible Medicare and Medicaid patients is reported on table 4, line 9a.

Table 6B - Quality of Care Measures: Modified by the addition of an oral health measure. The oral health measure is reported on table 6B, line 22.

Table 7 - Health Outcomes and Disparities: Modified by revising the diabetes control measure to collect and report on Hba1c < 8% and HbA1c > 9% or test not done. Reporting data on 8% <= HbA1c <= 9% is no longer required.

Helpful Hints

Table 4: Selected Patient Characteristics
  • Contact the MCOs early to get Table 4 member months. Don't wait until the last minute as these will be requested by all health centers in Kansas.
  • For accuracy on lines 7-12, insurance classification information must be collected at each patient visit.
  • Amounts reported in lines 10, 10a and 10b will be very low as Other Public Insurance is not available in Kansas.
Table 5: Staffing and Utilization
  • Amounts reported in Column a represent annualized FTEs (FTEs for the entire year or work).
  • Refer to the definition of "Visits" in the UDS manual when completing Column b.
  • The amounts entered into Column C will add up to more than the total patient count from Table 3A.
Table 6A: Selected Services Rendered
  • For the Number of Visits column, count once for each reportable diagnosis during a visit, not just the primary diagnosis.
Table 9D: Payment Types Reported
  • Amounts reported in lines 7, 8a, 8b, and 9 will be very low as Other Public Insurance is not available in Kansas.
Patient Registration Forms
  • Include question to ask what language the patient is best served by other than English
  • Always ask Ethnicity before asking race to cut down on confusion between the two. Example: "Do you consider yourself Hispanic? Yes or No. Select your race from the list below."

A Ranking of EHRs According to Their "User-Centered Design"
The American Medical Association (AMA) and MedStar Health's National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare developed a framework for rating EHR products using a 15-point scale according to user-centered design (UCD) best practices. The AMA and MedStar analyzed 20 common EHRs.

Do You Want to Pause MU Stage 3?

KAMU does not necessarily endorse the information included here. We are simply forwarding the information.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is urging physicians to 'Speak Out' against MU. In a message to Congress, the AAFP stated "The Meaningful Use program has departed from its original goals and has devolved into a clunky and complicated process, undermined by interoperability, growing administrative burdens and unrealistic incentive requirements."

The association developed a "Speak Out" tool that can be used to express opinions to the appropriate representative. The tool can be accessed by clicking Here.
