2015 90-day Reporting Period Approved, Stage 3 Included in Ruling
Yesterday, CMS released the final rule "to align Stage 1 and Stage 2 objectives and measures with the long-term proposals for Stage 3." Over 2,500 comments were submitted and reviewed for the two proposed rules. In a press statement, Dr. Patrick Conway, M.D., M.Sc., CMS deputy administrator for innovation and quality and chief medical officer, said:
"We have a shared goal of electronic health records helping physicians, clinicians, and hospitals to deliver better care, smarter spending, and healthier people. We eliminated unnecessary requirements, simplified and increased flexibility for those that remain, and focused on interoperability, information exchange, and patient engagement. By 2018, these rules move us beyond the staged approach of 'meaningful use' and focus on broader delivery system reform."
On October 29th, Trisha Harkness, CSSP, CHPS, Sr. ISS Services Consultant at Synōvim will review the specific changes in the final ruling. Invitations to this webinar will be sent early next week. In the meantime:
