Village Vehicle Sticker On Sale

The 2013-2014 Village of Lakemoor vehicle stickers have gone on sale. The new vehicle sticker must be displayed by May 1. Passenger vehicles, motorcycles and trucks with B plates are $12. There is an additional price schedule for trucks over B plates based on their individual weights. There is a discounted price for passenger vehicles for residents age 62 and over of $5.  There is no increase in fees this year. Please Click Here for additional pricing information.

If you bought one or more stickers last year, you should have received a renewal application in in the mail. If you received a renewal application, you'll be able to conveniently purchase your new stickers by mail. If you did not receive an application, please pick one up at Village Hall or Click Here to download an application. If you had a vehicle sticker in 2012 and did not receive a renewal application in the mail, this does not absolve you of the responsibility of buying a new sticker. If the vehicle(s) you have now is/are not the same as the one you had when last year's sticker was purchased, the application form will contain information about the former vehicle. In that case, just cross out those details and print the current information on the application.

To purchase your new sticker(s) in person instead of by mail or on-line, you can do so at the Village Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30p.m. If you receive a Police Department citation for not having an up-to-date sticker, you may have to (1) pay a fine, (2) pay the basic cost of the new sticker, AND (3) pay the late purchase penalty. You can avoid all that by buying your sticker on time.

Vehicle stickers may be purchased online.  Please Click Here to make the purchase of the stickers which will be mailed to your home. There is a small convenience fee charged for using this system. The fee is not charged or collected by the Village of Lakemoor

The penalty will not initially apply to new Village residents or to residents who purchase replacement vehicles on or after May 1. In either case, you'll have 30 days in which to purchase your sticker. During the grace period, proof of purchase or move-in date will be required to assure that a surcharge penalty is not imposed. If you change vehicles during the year after having bought a current sticker, a replacement sticker may be obtained within 30 days (with original receipt) in order to qualify for the $1 transfer fee. If you are purchasing new license plates, you should purchase the sticker within the 30-day limit and write "applied for" in the space on the application for license plate information. When you receive the plates, call Village Hall and provide the plate numbers. Senior citizen rates are available for residents 62 and over (with proof of age). For more information about vehicle stickers call the Village Hall at (815)385-1117

Emerald Ash Borer Tree Replacement

In April of 2012, the Illinois Department of Agriculture confirmed the presence of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in the Village of Lakemoor. The Village has drafted and approved the Village of Lakemoor Emerald Ash Borer Control Program. The objective of the Plan is to minimize the destructive effects of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) on Lakemoor's ash tree population.

The review of our parkway trees has found over two hundred infected trees with the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and other trees in poor conditions. In addition, we found thirty-seven infected ash trees which could be treated. The removal and treatment of these trees has already taken place. The Village has conducted the first round of tree replacement in the fall of 2012.

The Village has selected, based on the recommendations from our contractual arborist, a species of tree for planting this spring: Red Sunset Maple. As a result of the need to adhere to guidelines set forth related to the program and the need to focus on species diversification, residents will not be given the opportunity to select replacement species as this will be the decision of staff to insure adherence to the goal of a diversified parkway tree population.

The replacement trees would have been of 2" to 2 ½" caliper. Residents were being afforded the option to upgrade the caliber size of the replacement tree. The cost difference would have been at the expense of the resident. Thanks to the diligent work of Village Staff, we have negotiated an upgrade to 3" - 3 ½" caliper tree at the same cost of the smaller tree. This tree replacement will be done at no cost to the adjacent property owner.

The second replacement round of trees in conjunction with the Village's Emerald Ash Borer Control Program will take place within the next two weeks. Adjacent property owner will be notified of the plantings.
