Burglaries to Motor Vehicles
Over the past week Lakemoor has experienced several burglaries to motor vehicles. In most of these cases items of value were left in plain sight within the vehicle, and several of the vehicles were unlocked with valuables in plain sight. We are asking that you take every step possible to protect your personal belongings.
Most of the recent burglaries took place between the hours of 10:00pm and 5:00am. The Lakemoor Police Department are currently investigating these recent burglary cases and have also increased neighborhood patrols during these hours and ask that the residents report suspicious activity to the police department as soon as it is observed.
What you can do to help prevent crime in your neighborhoods:
1. Never leave GPS units or other valuables in plain view inside your vehicle. Tucking GPS units under your seat while leaving the bracket in the windshield is also an indicator to burglars that valuables are in the vehicle.
2. Always lock your car doors.
3. Check to make sure your garage door is closed every night.
4. Install and use outdoor security lighting that is bright enough to illuminate your driveway.
5. Know your neighbors and work together to watch each other's property.
6. Report suspicious activity to the police as soon as it is observed.
