The New Lakemoor Parks Department

 .

The Village has recently hired a Parks and Recreation Coordinator to help in organizing and coordinating all events planned in the Village. We are very excited that the Village is making this commitment to improve and expand the activities for all of our residents. Click Here for more info.

The Lakemoor Parks and Recreation Board would like your input regarding activities that could be offered to our residents. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey below. Please note that these are only ideas and that activities will be based upon interest and availability of volunteers. Click Here to take the short survey

We still need your help and involvement. The success of this new initiative still depends on our residents and their willingness to participate by volunteering. Help us make Lakemoor an even better place to live by volunteering in an upcoming event.   If you would like to volunteer please fill out a volunteer form and return it to Village Hall or email to villagehall@lakemoor.net

The Mission of Operation Support Our Troops - America is to support the morale and wellbeing of American forces by providing comfort, resources and education to them and their families both while they are deployed in harm's way and after their return. As a volunteer based non-profit organization, they provide the opportunity for our community members to express their appreciation and also offer support for our troops.

Fire Hydrant Flushing and Waterline Maintenance - This Week

You may notice Water Department crews working at fire hydrants and see water running down the street. Your first thought may be that we are ignoring our own philosophy of conserving water. Normally in the spring, we flush water lines through the use of fire hydrants, which is an important preventive maintenance activity. Although it may appear to waste water, the process is part of a routine maintenance program necessary to maintain the integrity of the water system allowing us to continue to deliver the highest quality water possible to our customers.

As a result of the line flushing process, residents in the immediate vicinity of the work may experience temporary discoloration of their water. This discoloration consists primarily of harmless silt and air and does not affect the safety of the water. If you experience discoloration in your water after crews have been flushing in your neighborhood, clear the pipes in your home by running all water faucets for a few minutes.

The same philosophy of water line preventive maintenance is one that you should use in your own home to ensure the quality of water inside your home. Your home's water heater should be drained and flushed on a regular basis, according to manufacturers' recommendations, to keep it working effectively and efficiently.
