July 11th Storm Update

The Village continues to clean up from the recent storm damage on June 11th. Public Works crews have been clearing debris ever since the end of the storm. At one point, over 50% of the Village was out of power. As of July 13 at 12p.m., an estimated 25% of the Village is still without power. Village Staff have constantly been in contact with ComEd getting updates on power restoration to the Village. We are hoping ComEd will have power restored to all of the Village by Friday, July 15, if not sooner.

On July 12, 2011, in response to the power outage, high temperatures and humidity, the Village set up two cooling centers in the areas with a high concentration of senior citizen residents. One cooling center was located at the Ports of Sullivan Bay Community Center and the second was a PACE Bus set up as a cooling center at the Meadows Apartment Homes. In addition, the Police Department had extra Police Officers on duty patrolling the affected areas.

The Village will have crews out on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 to pick up branches from resident's homes.  Residents are asked to please leave branches as large as possible and stack them evenly along the roadway with cut ends facing the roadway.  Wood chips from the storm debris will be available for collection in front of the Public Works building during daylight hours. Residents must collect and haul away the wood chips on their own.

I would like to remind residents to use our e service request or call Village Hall at (815)385-1117 for any non-emergency service from the Village. Our number one priority is service to our residents and businesses.

Respectfully,

What Is a Bike Rodeo?

A Bike Rodeo is a bicycle safety clinic featuring bike safety inspections, and a safety lecture about the rules of the road. This is followed by a ride on a miniature course set up in a parking lot where young cyclists are shown where and how to apply the rules.

The main focus of a bike rodeo is Cycling Safety for young cyclists, ages kindergarten to 14 or so.

Hope to see you there..............

Lakemoor Fest

August 12th, 13th & 14th

We Need Your Help

Lakemoor Fest is our annual, weekend long festival celebrating our community and it brings families together. The highlight of the festival is the fireworks show over Lily Lake.

Unfortunately, Lakemoor isn't the only Village that has faced cuts to its festival budget. The rising costs of fireworks has caused the Village to look for other sources of revenue to avoid reducing its fireworks display, shortening the event or outright cancelling the festival.

If you can afford it, please donate and help us keep the best fireworks show in the Chicagoland area.
