Tax Assessment Notices for Benton and Zion Townships
| 2014 Assessment Notices will be in the mail next week for Benton Township and Zion Township. Also, any properties in these townships that received a change in value due to something other than equalization will be published in the Lake County News Sun on July 16, 2014. Board Seeks Proposals for Lease and Replacement of the Winchester House Nursing Home
| In an effort to ensure Winchester House's long-standing tradition of providing high-quality care continues and to pursue a replacement facility, the Lake County Board took action to begin the process of leasing the skilled nursing facility to a private company. The County will seek proposals from private operators to lease the existing facility in Libertyville for two years, while the company becomes the licensed operator and explores building a new facility in the county. Free Community Garden Tour
| Sponsored by Illinois Dunesland Garden Club Saturday, July 12, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Enjoy a free, self-guided tour of beautiful gardens in the Zion, Winthrop Harbor and Beach Park area. Start with registration at the Zion-Benton Public Library to receive a map and register to win raffle prizes, and then explore the gardens at your own pace. Lake County Convenes Consolidated 911 Working Group
| This month, County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor convened a working group made up of fire, police, municipal and other leaders to discuss opportunities to consolidate 911 dispatch centers. An integrated 911 system has the opportunity to improve quality, efficiency, and provide cost savings. The idea came out of the first-ever Leaders Summit and subsequent Leaders Roundtables that were hosted by Lake County and municipal partners earlier this year. Over the coming months, we will be bringing together stakeholders to discuss how to further develop this initiative.

Lake County Fair Returns to Fairgrounds, July 23 - 27

Construction Begins on I-94 and Grand Ave. Interchange
|
 Motorists that use the interchange at Grand Ave. and I-94 should be prepared for some big changes as this two year reconstruction project gets underway. It begins the week of July 7 with the closure of eastbound I-94 ramp to westbound Grand Ave. This is the first of four scheduled ramp reconstructions scheduled for this year to improve safety and extend the life of the roadway.
