Waukegan School District Honors Young Composers with Levy Award

The Annual Henry Levy Fine Arts Achievement Award is given out to high-achieving fine arts students in elementary school, middle school and high school.  The Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 recently this year's winners who were recognized with certificates and a monetary prize sponsored by the Waukegan Arts Council.  For winners and more information, read the full press release

Waukegan Canine Unit Receives Donation for Canine Protective Vests

The Waukegan Police Department has received five (5) bullet and stab protective vests thanks to the efforts of Vested Interest in K9s, Inc, a Massachusetts based non-profit organization and a Massachusetts family. A donation made to the charity of $8000 by the MacLeod Family, in memory of their brother, "Bob Wanner" who was an Illinois resident, made the gift of the vest possible for eight K9's in IL. Recipients are El Paso, Marshall County Sheriff, Lansing and five K9s in Waukegan.  Visit their Facebook Page for more information.
