Reminder: Get Your Annual Flu Vaccine
The Health Department is encouraging residents to remember these important health recommendations when it comes to fighting the flu:
  • The most important step in protecting against the flu is getting an annual flu vaccine.
  • Take everyday preventive steps, such as staying away from sick people and washing your hands to reduce the spread of germs.
  • If you are sick with flu, stay home from work or school to prevent spreading influenza to others.

The Health Department is just one of several locations offering the flu vaccine this year as it is available at pharmacies and at other providers throughout Lake County. For more information, visit: http://health.lakecountyil.gov/Population/Pages/Influenza.aspx or contact the Health Department at: (847) 377-8470.

Keep Your Jack-O-Lanterns Safe!
Be sure walking areas and stairs are well-lit and free of obstacles that could result in falls.
Keep candle-lit jack o'lanterns and luminaries away from doorsteps, walkways, landings, and curtains. Place them on sturdy tables, keep them out of the reach of pets and small children, and never leave them unattended.

Here are some healthy Halloween tips!

- Provide healthier treats for trick-or-treaters such as low-calorie treats and drinks.

- For party guests, offer a variety of fruits, vegetables, and cheeses.

- Use party games and trick-or-treat time as an opportunity for kids to get their daily dose of 60 minutes of physical activity.
