Monthy Memberships and More!
 
It is Mid October already.  The leaves have started to turn and fall, Autumn is well under way.

Most of you have settled into your weekly routines by now and are preparing for winter as you close up your cottages, dry out your sail boats, and fill your home with root vegetables. Below I have included my very favourite squash Soup recipe for you to enjoy.  I make it every fall in a huge pot and it freezes very well and keeps for ages in the freezer. As a side note, I always add more curry than is suggested in the recipe. 

I am getting ready to head to Toronto to work with my first group of Toronto Apprentices beginning teacher training with Authentic Pilates Canada Teacher Training which uses the New York Pilates Studio Teacher Training Program.  Lili's Pilates Studio is the only all Gratz fully Authentic Pilates studio in Toronto and she will be hosting us!  I also have more apprentices starting in the Precision Pilates studio! As the only Pilates organization in Canada to have access to the Joseph Pilates Archives, the very first and original teacher training manuals and program (long before big companies started changing things!), and many of the best Pilates teachers in the world, the Apprentices learning from Authentic Pilates Canada will be second to none.   

We have added monthly memberships and online payment for your convenience.  Memberships will include either one, two or three visits per week.  Discounts will also be offered on all packages depending if you sign up for three, six, or twelve months. 

Please also have a quick read over the studio Cancellation Policy. We have changed the cancellation window on private lessons and we will be enforcing these policies across the board.  Thank you for understanding!

A reminder for everyone that it IS studio policy to take a class off your package if you do not notify us that you plan to cancel your attendance.

All private lessons cancelled without 24 hours notice are charged as a full lesson.  

Due to many classes and appointment times being full, if you do not cancel your space, others can not attend class.  

You can cancel via the online software, send us an email, give us a call, or text our phone number. 

We do understand that sometimes there are circumstances beyond your control.  If this is the case, let us know.

The Muscle of the Month! - Glutes!

Daily we adhere to the sedentary lifestyle of modern society which mostly includes working from a desk, in front of a screen, all day). This causes many muscles to weaken as they are not being used, and in the same respect, causes some muscles to over work or work incorrectly.  The Gluteal muscles are some of the largest muscles in your body and are severely impacted when not used or not used correctly.  
While having a strong hind end is considered an asset in the cosmetic sense, the gluteal muscles also play a crucial role in your posture and over all physical function. Two of the main functions of the gluteal muscles are to extend your leg behind your body while walking or running, and also to help stabilize your pelvis while moving your spine (think bending over, reaching for something on a high shelf, or swinging a golf club)
A weak tush, or a tush that does not work when it should, generally cases the legs and hip flexor muscles to over work, thus leading to pelvic stability issues such as back pain, hip, knee or foot problems.  Did you know that a weak bottom could also be contributing to chronic neck and shoulder pain?  Amazing! The tush and the tummy (last newsletter muscle of the month, the Abdominals) work together to maintain the proper posture of the torso so that the legs and arms may work properly during daily activities.  
Many of you have already taken the first step by getting out of your offices and coming to Precision Pilates. You have heard Cara, Carol, Sandrine, and Lynne talk about using your gluteal muscles during nearly every exercise they ask you to do. Whether using your tush is to stabilize or mobilize, its role is important.  So the next time any of the teachers are the source of a pain in your bottom, THANK them!  
For those of you who do not attend classes at Precision Pilates, but who suffer from back pain, runners injuries, neck issues and more, come in for an assessment as often weak gluteal muscles are a source of these issues or contributing to them in a real way.  A regular and committed Traditional Pilates practice can help you feel (and look!) better too!

Monthly Memberships at Precision Pilates!


We have decided to offer monthly memberships (30 days) to anyone who wishes to join!  We will have three different memberships, One, two, or three visits per week and give the option to sign up for three, six, or twelve months and offer discounts of 10%, 15%, or 20% respectively.  The prices, discounts, contract terms and savings are outlined below.

Membership 1 - ONE visit per week which includes (per 30 days) one Private lesson, one Apparatus class, two Mat classes. 

Membership 2 - TWO visits per week which includes (per 30 days) two Private lessons, two Apparatus Class, four Mat classes. 

Membership 3 - THREE visits per week which includes (per 30 days) four Private lessons, four Apparatus classes, four Mat classes.

The contract for these memberships is as follows: 
Precision Pilates will process a charge of (90, 85, 80) (180, 170, 160) (306, 289, 272) plus HST every month during the contract period on the same day of the month (Purchase date anniversary) for the membership term.

All lessons and classes included in the monthly visit entitlement expire at the end of each month, even if if unused, i.e. no carryovers. Private lessons are provided by assigned qualified instructors. (Sandrine Corbin and Lynne West) You are responsible for signing up for and cancelling classes on Mindbody online software. 

You are responsible for updating your credit card information on the Mindbody online payment system a minimum of 10 days prior to the monthly payment date if your credit card information changes, is renewed or terminated.

If any payment is not honoured, you agree to immediately replace the payment with an additional penalty of 40$.

Members who sign up for the 12 month term may request one deferral annually provided the request is made at least 30 days in advance.

These packages cannot be cancelled before the end of the contract and payments will continue to be withdrawn each month, however, if there are circumstances affecting your participation beyond your control, please let us know.

All posted Studio policies are applicable to the Membership program, particularly the cancellation policies for private lessons and group classes.

Cara's Famous Squash Apple Curry Soup


1 Cup Apple Cider
2 Cups Chopped Onion
2 Apples, peeled and cored
4 Tbsp Butter
3 Cups Chicken Broth
1 Tbsp Curry
3lbs Squash Peeled and cubed
 
Slowly cook onions, butter, and curry until onions are soft in a large pot. 20-25min.
 
Add Squash, apples, broth, cider, simmer until cooked.   Blend to make thick Puree.
 
I generally use Coconut Oil instead of butter (and only about 2 tbsp). I use 2-3 tbsp of Hot Curry,  organic chicken or vegetable broth (or homemade), and Butternut or Acorn Squash (pumpkins work too!) This made the soup Dairy Free and/or vegan if necessary.
 
I usually at least double the recipe so that I have plenty to store.  It freezes very well and will last six months or more in the freezer.
