January 2015! How time flies!
Fall 2014 was crazy for us at Precision Pilates. We moved the studio to the iconic Hartt Shoe Factory in September and added services and staff to our space! We also hosted Sean Gallager, owner of the Joe Pilates archives, a Physiotherapist, and busy Pilates studio owner in New York City to our studio. Our time with him was wonderful and we can't wait to have him back again. A successful autumn all around and we are ready for 2015!
January 10th will mark the 4th anniversary of the Precision PIlates Studio! After humble beginnings in Cara's home in 2007, opening in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in 2011, we now enter our 5th year in 2015. Something to celebrate and be proud of. A huge thanks to all of you for being with us on our journey.
As usual our most popular class times are nearly full, but with lots of classes on the schedule we've got something for everyone. New 30 minute Apparatus classes have been added for those of you who regularly purchase Mat only classes. These special apparatus classes are the cost of one Mat class so you can gain all the benefits of the springs with your same pricing package! Excellent news for you!
Yoga and Barre classes are gaining momentum and Michelle Richard is now fully trained and is teaching Barre classes several times per week, joining Jen Feeney on our Barre team!
With the best pricing in the city for drop in and monthly passes for Yoga, try adding a restorative class with Jenn Dextras-Tyler, or a Vinyasa Class with Jill Hudgins to your weekly routine.
Ryan Wilkie is available for Fascial Stretch Therapy every day of the week and has appointment times in the mornings, afternoons, and evening. Our clients have been benefiting greatly from his body work. We encourage all of you to try a session!
I want to take this opportunity to encourage you all to take some private lessons. This one on one time is essential to your body's understanding of movement and to your progression in the Pilates method. The keen eyes and helping hands of our skilled teachers can make tremendous differences in your life. Understanding how the functional movement we teach applies to your everyday activities like shoveling snow, going for a ski, or playing golf is essential. Whether you come to us because of back issues, other injuries, or just to stay fit and feel healthy, Private lessons will help you heal and progress more quickly.
We also have a new Storm Day Policy for your review. Please take care to read this carefully. It is in this newsletter.
Welcome to 2015 everyone! I wish you all a truly wonderful Year ahead!

Storm Day Policy
With winter, comes storm days. We DO have a policy for this, please read it carefully.
- School Cancellation does NOT mean that classes are cancelled. Please LOOK at the online schedule and check your email to see if your class has been cancelled.
- If you can not make it to your group class, YOU MUST let us know or our regular cancellation policy applies. (read Below)
- Private lessons ALWAYS require a cancellation. We will shorten the window to 12 hours rather than 24 hours in the event of a storm. Our teachers WILL come to work on storm days. If you are a 'no show' for your appointment or class, you will be charged.
You may cancel via the online system, email, text, or phone (please leave a message)

Studio Cancellation Policy
A reminder for everyone that it IS studio policy to take a class off your package if you do not notify us that you plan to cancel your attendance.
All private lessons cancelled without 24 hours notice are subject to a $25 fee.
Private lessons cancelled the 'day of' are charged as a full lesson.
Due to many classes and appointment times being full, if you do not cancel your space, others can not attend class.
You can cancel via the online software, send us an email, give us a call, or text our phone number.
We do understand that sometimes there are circumstances beyond your control. If this is the case, let us know.
Thank you!

Authentic Pilates Canada Apprentices
In April of 2014, three apprentices began their journey to become traditional Pilates teachers. The 700 hour Authentic Pilates Canada Teacher Education and Apprenticeship program is the first and only one of its kind in Canada. With more than 100 hours of class time, and 600 hours of full apprenticeship consisting of practice teaching, personal practice of the Pilates method, and observation, the program is rigorous.
Nine months later, two of the apprentices are nearing their final exam, while one will be testing the 400 hour exam very soon. Cara is incredibly proud of the apprentices as they have become excellent practitioners and teachers of Joe Pilates body of work. The subtleties of the method are being learned and the apprentices are developing their abilities to read the movements of the body in front of them and thus choose which exercise on what apparatus will gain the best result. This is a skill that takes years to develop and is not taught in contemporary Pilates programs or programs that do not require an apprenticeship. This is true mark of the traditional Pilates work as passed down through the direct lineage of Joseph Pilates.
Private lessons with the apprentices are currently $30.00 taxes included. Once they graduate they will be on the regular schedule offering classes and private lessons at a Junior teacher rate.
The Junior teacher rate will be as follows: $50.00 per private lesson $285.00 for six private lessons, $450.00 for ten private lessons (plus tax).
The rates for senior teachers are as follows: $65.00 per private lesson $370.50 for six private lessons $585.00 for ten private lesson
With five Pilates teachers to choose from and 50 different possible times to schedule a lesson weekly, what are you waiting for?

What is Fascial Stretch Therapy?!
Ryan Wilkie joined our team of amazing instructors in September 2014. Ryan offers 30 minute and 1 hour private Fascial Stretch therapy sessions in our beautiful Yoga and Precision Barre room five days per week.
Fascial Stretch Therapy is a gentle and painless method of stretching the layer of tissue between the skin and the muscles. Quite often this is the area that causes pain and tightness in people and it is difficult to stretch without hands on work. Those of you who do Private Pilates lessons are accustomed to much of this sort of extra 'pushing and pulling' to give you more. I highly recommend Ryan and his services for ALL of our clients and I hope that many of you book in with him to help improve your performance and the benefits of the other exercise and work that you do.
Ryan has over 5 years of experience and multiple certifications with some of the top organizations in the health & fitness world. As one of only a handful of personal trainers that I (Cara) will send my clients too, Ryan is in Fredericton's elite. Ryan specializes in getting you moving efficiently and will have your body feeling loose and relaxed with Fascial Stretch Therapy

Hartt Shoe Factory - It is still new to us!
In order to continue to help you all with the new space here are a few tips.
- Our parking is BEHIND the building, off Argyle Street. This is best for daytime. If you are coming to evening or weekend classes, parking across the street in the Chestnut Complex may be easiest.
- There is construction in and around the building, please be careful in the parking lots and other common areas. Our front entrance will be landscaped soon. Thanks for your patience!!
-we will do our very best to keep our front steps and walk ways ice and snow free. Canada can be challenging in the winter, so please be patient with us!
