October 2014

Notes from the Programmers
Traffic Version 9.1
After four months of beta testing, we are excited to announce that the all-new Traffic Version 9.1 is here and ready to be rolled out!

Over the next few weeks we will roll out the release to one group of stations at a time. An email will be sent to the first group of stations on October 28, 2014, and approximately two weeks later an email will be sent to the next group. After that Traffic Version 9.1 will be released to the remaining stations.

The reason for this roll-out method is two-fold:
  • First, it will reduce the load on support and reduce waiting times for regular (non-upgrade) support calls,
  • Second, if (by chance) there are issues that were not identified during beta or in-house testing, it gives us a chance to fix those issues prior to the mass release.
Traffic Version 9.1 completes our rewrite to the .NET environment and therefore all automation interfaces have been rewritten. Because the interface between the Log program and your automation system must be exact, we would like to verify the output of all automation interfaces before a station upgrades to Version 9.1. On October 14, we sent an email to all traffic users with instructions on how to send the necessary data to Allegiance

Many of the new enhancements included in this release have come from clients' requests. A brief description of all of the changes can be found on our user forum. If you have never visited the forum before, now would be an excellent opportunity to do so. While looking over the enhancement list for Version 9.1, you can also submit enhancement requests for Traffic Version 9.2!
Thank You Beta Stations
Before we release any major upgrade, we need to put the product through a thorough testing process. And a big part of that testing falls into the hands of your colleagues, our Beta stations. These organizations were willing to offer their traffic databases to help us ensure this release works smoothly in a real world setting. We especially thank the following stations for testing Allegiance Traffic V9.1:
  • WVIK-FM - Rock Island, IL
  • Iowa Public Radio - Des Moines, IA
  • KUER-FM - Salt Lake City, UT
  • WNMU-FM - Marquette, MI
  • KSBJ-FM - HUMBLE, TX
