GreenCircle Client Successes!
Reducing Risk, Ensuring Integrity-
Tangent Technologies, LLC has received certification for Recycled Content in eight of their plastic lumber products, as well as Closed Loop Product Certification in four plastic lumber products. The plastic lumber industry has recently been charged with many violations by the Federal Trade Commission in association with their Green Guides. Tangent was not included in the list of violators by the FTC, but as a leader in their industry is a great example of an organization whose goal is to provide more sustainable and transparent products to the marketplace. To do this, Tangent proactively contacted GreenCircle Certified to conduct a third-party certification to validate their recycled content percentage in compliance with international standards and the FTC Green Guides. Tangent's recycled plastic lumber product brands are created with up to 95% recycled content - with a majority deriving from Post-Consumer Recycled plastics. Tangent achieved the Closed Loop Product certification by implementing a take-back program for their post-consumer recycled plastic lumber brands Polytuf ™ and PolyWide ™ in conjunction with their customers who fabricate products (like picnic tables and benches) and who are committed to returning their own waste scrap back to Tangent to be manufactured into new products all over again. Waste Reduced, Waste Diverted-
CecoDoor, an ASSA ABLOY company, has received the Sustainable Manufacturing Practices certification at their Milan, TN facility! Ceco Door has successfully reduced its manufacturing waste by 2% and has achieved a waste diversion from landfill rate of 93%. One primary method of reducing waste was by decreasing the size of metal coils used in the manufacturing process- which has resulted in less scrap generated at the facility. Additionally, Ceco Door recovers scrap throughout the manufacturing process, reducing the amount of scrap sent to the landfill.  Congratulations, Ceco Door! GreenCircle's Danielle Verna Comments on Increasing Crackdown by the FTC
Danielle Verna, Certification Analyst at GreenCircle, has written an article about the recent FTC "crackdown" on certifiers and businesses promoting vague or misleading certifications. As someone who works with companies to ensure specific, accurate and credible claims, Danielle was excited to see that the FTC is taking these misleading claims seriously.  GreenCircle takes pride in ensuring that all certifications are clear, direct, and easy-to-understand because consumers have a right to know exactly what goes into the manufacturing of their products.  Consumers deserve and continue to demand honesty and transparency from companies, specifically in the green market.
