Expertise Earns Place on SPLC TAG

As the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) continues to evolve, striving to standardize the practice of sustainable procurement, it relies on its members' expertise in developing procedures and establishing best practices. In order to address priority Purchasing Categories, the SPLC has developed eight Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) to provide recommendations and proposals for the Council's pilot rating system. As a founding member, GreenCircle has been involved in developing and expanding the SPLC's scope and reach, and recently, Annie Bevan, Certification and Operations Manager, was selected to be on the Construction and Renovation TAG. Annie will leverage GreenCircle's experience with the building products industry to provide insight and guidance on the Council's pilot rating system.

LEED Pilot Credit has Project Teams Seeking Certified Recyclers

LEED project teams have long been rewarded for diverting construction and demolition waste from landfill; but a new LEED Pilot Credit is taking this commitment to responsible material management to the next level. Project teams that utilize third-party certified recovery facilities to recycle or salvage the project's total commingled construction and demolition materials will now earn an extra point, which can lead to achieving a higher level of LEED certification.

LEED and other green building codes and standards have been a driving force in the waste diversion and recycling market. This Pilot Credit offers material handlers and mixed-recovery facilities the opportunity to benefit LEED project teams and generate growth. GreenCircle's Waste Diversion from Landfill certification will qualify recovery facilities which meet the criteria set forth by the Pilot Credit, and in turn, assist them in meeting market demands.
