"I've been sober 74 days."

Bob arrived at Cross Roads House looking for a place to start over. "I lost my place to live because of heavy drinking. I've been sober 74 days."

While at Cross Roads House, Bob has been participating in the Recovery Support Group, a sober living environment for men. This group is housed within our transitional shelter program. "You get your own room and share common areas. Everyone that's in there has to work the program, go to AA or NA, two house meetings every week about substance abuse, and then meeting with Sandy."

Bob feels this extra support has helped in his recovery. "It's helped keep me sober because everyone up there is sober and you're not thinking about it all the time."

Bob is also grateful for the help he's received from his case manager, Kelly. "She's helped me get back things that I lost or didn't have because when I was drinking I didn't care. I got back food stamps. I found out I have Medicaid now. I got back on the housing list."

Bob is thankful for the support he's received at Cross Roads House, and from his peers in the Support Recovery Group. "It's a good place for somebody that's in transition to stay until they find an apartment. I don't wake up in the morning feeling icky and not wanting to do anything. The staff is great here. They're real supportive. Every morning [Direct Care Staff] says, 'How many days?'"

With his many supports in place, Bob is optimistic about a future that includes moving to an apartment and maintaining his sobriety.
