13th Annual Benefit by the Sea
Raises $260,000
Pictured above are Dave Mansfield, President, The Provident Bank, and his wife, Trish, at the 2015 Benefit by the Sea on May 9, 2015. The Provident Bank was one of this year's Platinum Sponsors.

On Saturday, May 9, 2015, our 13th Annual Benefit by the Sea gala was held at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel in New Castle, NH. Due to the extraordinary generosity of event sponsors, donors, and guests who pledged their support, the event raised $260,000, which will provide 25% of our operating revenue and help us provide shelter and services to the nearly 500 men, women and children who seek our assistance annually. Cross Roads House relies on private philanthropy for three quarters of its annual operating budget.

The Benefit by the Sea gala is a vital part of securing the necessary funds to continue providing shelter and life changing services for the homeless in our community. Event proceeds enable us to provide the most basic human needs: a clean bed, warm meals, and the support of case managers along with a wide variety of programs and supportive services. We have close to 100 beds between our two buildings and on most nights throughout the year we are filled to capacity.

Thank you to all the sponsors and donors who helped us exceed our goal this year! Your generosity makes it possible for us to fulfill our mission to help our residents break the cycle of homelessness and move with dignity and purpose to decent, stable housing.

It's Summer Time!!

The weather is getting warmer and the school year is coming to a close. That means it is time to prepare for the summer season at Cross Roads House.

Summer presents some unique challenges for our residents. Our families need assistance purchasing new summer clothing for their growing children, as well as summer camp supplies like swimsuits, sunscreen, and bug spray. Our adult residents will be spending more time outdoors in the sun and heat and may need assistance staying protected from the elements.

You can help us make sure all Cross Roads House residents have a fun and safe summer by donating the following items:
  • Walmart gift cards (for children's clothing)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Beach towels
  • Ice packs
  • Water bottles
  • Rain ponchos
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, 600 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, NH, at any time.
Congratulations Interns!!

Congratulations to our MSW interns, Jason and Sam, for completing their internship placements here at Cross Roads House. We are so proud of all that they have accomplished this year and wish them well in their future endeavors!

Sam
Sam started her internship at Cross Roads House in May 2014. Prior to her arrival at Cross Roads, Sam spent several years volunteering and working with homeless youth and adults in Manchester. Sam graduated from UNH this month. She would like to continue working with the homeless population, possibly in a mental health setting. "Cross Roads House made me much more confident working with clients one-on-one. It prepared me and reinforced the skills I already had."

Jason
Jason completed the second year of a three year MSW Program at UNH in May. Jason said that during his time at Cross Roads House he has learned more about the scope of services, programs, and resources that are required to assist our residents. "I've realized that a lot more goes on here than just me sitting down with the residents and making case plans with them. So many factors go into what we are doing here." Jason said that after graduation he would like to become a licensed drug and alcohol counselor, working in a substance abuse recovery program.
Album proceeds to benefit
Cross Roads House

Special thanks to producer Robert McClung for his thoughtfulness in making Cross Roads House the beneficiary of proceeds from the new album, "Hypatia."

The album features Pink Floyd backing musicians Durga McBroom-Hudson and Scott Page, along with musicians from Jethro Tull, Yes, Kansas, Queensrӱche and more! Composer, Producer, multi-instrumentalist Robert McClung formed Telergy with the goal of bringing musicians from all over the world together to tell the stories behind historical events through a blend of progressive rock, orchestral, jazz and world music. "Hypatia" is Telergy's third album.

Telergy is an independent project that receives no support from a major record label. You can support their efforts to produce this album by making a donation to help cover the large costs of mastering, duplication, and distribution.
