VISIT FROM THE GOVERNOR
Pictured left to right are Dan Mitchell, Director of Operations, Martha Stone, Executive Director, Governor Maggie Hassan, Lex Scourby, Board Member, and Jessica Parker, Marketing and Development Coordinator.
Cross Roads House was honored to welcome New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan on Friday, October 25th. During her visit, the Governor toured the shelter and met with staff and residents.

One resident shared her story with the governor, explaining how Cross Roads House was instrumental in helping her stabilize her life. She shared that she went from sleeping outside to moving into the shelter where she has maintained sobriety and secured transitional housing. Governor Hassan replied, "Everyone needs to know they have someone in their corner fighting for them."

"We were delighted that the Governor took the time to come and tour our shelter," said Martha Stone, Cross Roads House Executive Director. "We appreciate that she was interested in learning more about the services we offer and the people we serve."

HALLOWEEN AT CROSS ROADS HOUSE

Cross Roads House held a special dinner on Monday, October 28th to celebrate Halloween with some of our youngest residents. Children wore costumes and everyone got their fill of candy!

Cross Roads House would like to extend a special thank you to Zach's Farm Stand in York for donating enough pumpkins for all the children to decorate!
LEADERSHIP GIVING
SOCIETY RECEPTION
Leadership Giving Society members and Board members Jim McCarthy and Bob Brown.

Cross Roads House held its annual Leadership Giving Society reception on October 29th at the Discover Portsmouth Center. The event was an opportunity for the Board of Directors and administrators to personally recognize and thank society members for their generous support of the shelter. In addition, guests received a report on last year's shelter outcomes and goals for the year ahead.

The Leadership Giving Society was founded in 2010 to recognize donors who contribute $1,000 or more within the fiscal year (7/1 - 6/30). Along with the annual reception, the names of society members are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the shelter for the year and members will be highlighted in our annual report.

Holiday Giving Opportunities

During the holiday season, we present each adult resident with a gift bag (families are sponsored separately). You can help us accomplish this by donating some of the items from the resident wish list below. In addition to providing gifts for our residents, financial donations are always needed to help fund shelter operations.

Unwrapped gifts can be dropped off or mailed to: Cross Roads House, 600 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, NH 03801 by Monday, December 16th.

Volunteer Orientation  - November 14th

Have you ever considered volunteering at

Cross Roads House?

Seven nights a week, our volunteers prepare and serve dinner to our residents.

Find out how you too can become a volunteer by attending our next Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, November 14, 2013,  at 5:30 p.m. at our shelter. The one hour orientation will include a shelter tour, an overview of kitchen operations, and volunteer expectations.  Volunteers must be over 18 and out of high school to volunteer at the shelter.

This will be our last orientation of the calendar year. Volunteer Orientation will resume next year on January 9th, 2014. Pre-registration for orientation is not required.

Our parking lot often fills up during orientation.

Click this link for directions and parking instructions.
