I AM GRATEFUL FOR
CROSS ROADS HOUSE BECAUSE...

Erica's children, riding bikes outside the shelter.

My family became homeless when I was unable to return to work due to illness. That resulted in eviction, no food, and no clean clothes or diapers for my children. I couldn't even afford my medicine so I could care for myself and my 2- and 3-year-old babies. I was lucky to get a spot for us in the family shelter. I was so scared but the staff at Cross Roads House earned my trust quickly by doing what I do, and that's put my children first. They made me and my children feel safe. They helped us with clean clothes and showers, made sure we were eating, and gave us beds and clean bedding. They even gave each child a stuffed animal that they still sleep with every night. They also helped me get my medicine. If it weren't for Cross Roads House, I don't know what would have happened to my family. I thank the staff and donors every day for all they have done. It gave me the strength to continue on, one day at a time. It is people like you that make it possible for families to be safe, healthy and most of all, together. Thank you and God bless. - Erica (Current Resident)

From Local Farms to Our Tables
Cross Roads House would like to thank all of the local farms and family gardeners who have donated fresh produce in the past few weeks. Your generosity helps us serve fresh, well-balanced, and nutritious meals to the residents at Cross Roads House. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful community support.

Volunteer Orientation - October 10, 2013
Have you ever considered volunteering at Cross Roads House? Seven nights a week, our volunteers prepare and serve dinner to our residents. Find out how you too can become a volunteer by attending our next Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 5:30-6:30 pm at our shelter. The orientation will include a shelter tour, an overview of kitchen operations, and volunteer expectations. Volunteers must be over 18 and out of high school to volunteer at the shelter. Pre-registration for orientation is not required. Our parking lot often fills up during orientation. Click this link for directions and parking instructions. If you have any questions about volunteering or about our orientation program, please contact JoAnn Rohde who schedules all volunteers: j.rohde@crossroadshouse.org or 436-2218 x 107. |
