Woodside Students Spread Holiday Cheer at Montrose Veterans Home
The residents at the Montrose Veterans Home recently got a very special visit from a group of Woodside Elementary School children who, led by their music teacher, Crystal Hernandez, spent the afternoon singing holiday songs throughout the building. Once they were finished singing in the recreation room, the children were led through the halls to go caroling throughout the rest of the building. As they made their way through each wing of the home the students presented hand-made holiday cards and candy canes to residents. For an article and more photos from this event, click here. You can also read here about students from across the Peekskill City School District who recently visited the Montrose Veterans Home for Veterans Day.

New Jason C. Paige Health & Fitness Center Unveiled at PHS
At an emotional ceremony which took place in the new Jason C. Paige Health & Fitness Center, Paige's friends, family, and fellow community members joined school administrators and elected officials who all came to honor and remember the man for whom the room was named. Not only was Jason Paige a beloved member of the PCSD family who worked as an attendance teacher, he was also a former Marine who worked as an auxiliary sargent for the Peekskill Police Department and was a NYPD officer as well. The Center's renovations were largely aided by a donation made by Kevin Grehan in memory of his parents, James and Vivian Odell Grehan. Moving forward, members of the Peekskill staff will soon be trained on how to properly use the equipment so that they can supervise those who wish to use the Center.
