April 2014

Spring has sprung!  Be sure to spend some time outside and enjoy this AMAZING weather that we've been having.  We even had a recent cool-off to postpone the heat that we all know is coming eventually.  There are so many things to do around the Valley on any given weekend during Spring, that you certainly have plenty to choose from.  And then there's just sitting by your awakening water feature and enjoying your very own sanctuary!

Our Spring mixer is this Saturday, April 5th.  It runs 6-9 p.m., open-house style.  The mixers are a chance for us to connect with our existing clients, as well as an opportunity for people to come by and experience the water-side lifestyle in a casual, relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.  Of course, there's also wine and munchies. More information.

SAVE THE DATE!  Harper's Nursery and Landscape Center's grand opening will be Saturday, May 3, 2014.  The big celebration will take place from 3-8 p.m.

Ponderings
Twitterpations

The wise old owl told Bambi that every living creature gets "twitterpated" in the Spring.  Well, your fish are living creatures!  If you've noticed a foaming in your pond that comes and goes, don't panic.  It's simply your fish responding to Spring's siren call.  It goes away on its own, so no need to treat it.

This is also the time when you can begin feeding your fish commercial fish food again -- we're know they're beggin' for it!  Of course, keeping them on an all-natural diet of fruit & veggies will keep your water cleaning and your pond more low-maintenance.

As your pond awakens, string algae should become much less of an issue.  However, the fuzzy surface on your underwater rocks, or pond patina, is completely natural.  In fact, this aids the ecosystem in keeping the water itself crystal clear.  Even during a complete drain & clean, you should never obliterate this pond patina, which is why we don't power wash our living water features.  Remember, it's not a pool or spa, where dead water is the desired result.  The pond patina is part of why a living water feature is beautiful, interesting, and captivating.

REWARD!
