Happy New Year!  Hope your holidays were filled with family, friends, and love.  If they weren't, next year: go to Hawaii. 

We have passed the Winter Solstice, and each day brings a little more daylight into our lives as we welcome back the sun.  Remember to appreciate our "cold" weather before the heat returns in a few months with all that light.

The Pond Gnome will be at the Home & Garden Show this weekend, Friday-Sunday, January 10-12th.  We are creating a gorgeous landscape display in the 30'x30' entrance booth just inside the north gate.  If you go to the Show, be sure to stop by and say hi!  Paul will be giving a 45-minute presentation at 3:30 Friday on the stage in the Garden Pavilion: "Ponds in the Desert."  If you've never seen him present, it's a real treat!

We have a lot of fun promotions planned for the next 12 months, and don't miss our ads in Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine throughout the year.  We'll be in several issues, including the Garden Guide in September.  Check our Events page often to keep up!

Ponderings
Food From Ponds?

Would you like a side of a algae with that?  Although there are people out there who find some aquatic plants appetizing, that's not where this is headed.  Feed your roses and/or citrus trees with the algae that you pull out of your pond - it's great mulch and rich in nutrients (not so sure about the taste).  But you CAN feed yourself delicious organic food with an "Aquapondics" system!  Never heard of Aquapondics?

Annual cleanings will be under way soon, when the last danger of frost has officially passed.  If you've already signed up, you'll be hearing from us with a one-week advanced notice before the crew's arrival.  If you haven't signed up yet, there's still time!  Just use the link below to get it done.

If you're thinking of doing it yourself this year, no worries!  Remember that we have complete instructions on our website, or you can attend the FREE DIY cleaning class on Saturday, February 15th, from 10:00 to noon, at the Scottsdale Harper's Nursery.  No registration necessary, simply show up.  There may even be a spare plant cutting or two. ;-)
