The series will then return to Ottawa with two events in May.

Canada has much to learn about health care reform -- both from innovation ideas close to home, and in countries around the world.
A new Macdonald-Laurier Institute video, the third in MLI's Medicare's Midlife Crisis series, looks at ideas for improving Canada's expensive and underperforming health care system.
The video earned Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley interviews with The Exchange on CBC TV and Danielle Smith of AM 770 in Calgary.

The Macdonald-Laurier Institute has long been an advocate for removing barriers to internal trade, and in March two MLI authors took their case to the decision-makers on Parliament Hill.
Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley and Senior Fellow Sean Speer appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce to discuss the issue.
Crowley also authored a column on the subject for the Ottawa Citizen.
Delving into deficits: MLI authors analyse Budget 2016
The new government's first budget is in the books -- and MLI authors were all over the news providing analysis.
Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley and Senior Fellow Sean Speer kicked off the debate with a commentary pointing out what the government got right, what it got wrong and why it's likely taken a first step into fiscal quicksand.
Speer also authored an op-ed for CapX contrasting Britain's debt fight with Canada's free-spending ways.
Senior Fellow Philip Cross, meanwhile, authored a column for the Financial Post on why the new government just can't seem to say "no" and appeared on BNN to discuss new money for Statistics Canada to look at foreign homebuyers.

A new paper from the Macdonald-Laurier Institute is shining a light on the insidious threat contraband tobacco poses to Canadians' safety.
Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht's study examines the links between contraband and terrorism, shows why governments and police haven't found much success in fighting it and what the next steps are for ripping it out by the root.
The paper earned him coverage with Global TV.

The next issue, a look at Canada-US relations, isn't due until later this month. In the meantime, you can check out some of the articles online.
Stanley Hartt argues that Donald Trump's success in the Republican nomination race will be difficult to replicate in Canada, while Sean Speer offers a warning for those who think Canada's projected deficits are no big deal. He also praises the prime minister's recent trip to Washington.
Macdonald-Laurier Institute author Ken Coates has received nominations for several prestigious awards for his books on Aboriginal Canada.
#IdleNoMore and the Remaking of Canada received several nominations, as did the book he co-authored with Greg Poelzer, titled From Treaty Peoples To Treaty Nation.

From the desert to the tundra: Why Australia and Canada should team up on advancing polar interests
What do Australia and Canada have in common when it comes to their polar interests?
Lots!
A new commentary from the Macdonald-Laurier Institute argues that the two countries have a lot to gain from working together on their respective interests in Antarctica and the Arctic.
