The Macdonald-Laurier Institute is once again receiving high marks from a highly-respected international study for its thought leadership on issues vital to making Canada the best-governed country in the world.
And despite only being on the scene for five years, MLI is quickly gaining ground on some of Canada's more established think tanks.
MLI placed as the top think tank based in Ottawa as part of the 2015 Global Go To Think Tank Rankings, produced by the University of Pennsylvania Think Tanks and Civil Society Program and has risen to fourth place in Canada.
Pouring $60 billion worth of infrastructure spending into the economy is no simple task.
That's why infrastructure expert Brian Flemming and MLI Senior Fellow Sean Speer, in a new commentary, are here to help the government design an infrastructure plan that works for Canada in the long-term.
Speer discussed the commentary, which is part of MLI's "From A Mandate For Change To A Plan To Govern" series, in interviews with CBC News, CBC's Power and Politics and CTV's Power Play.

Shining a spotlight on the Supreme Court
Some striking new trends emerged at the Supreme Court in 2015.
And MLI Senior Fellow Benjamin Perrin was here to shed light on them.
Perrin discussed his most recent report, which examined the lasting impact of the Court's major decisions from the past year, with CBC Radio One stations across the country and in the Ottawa Citizen.
He also authored an op-ed for the National Post.

The federal government wants to ensure Canadians are secure in retirement. This is an important goal but, say Sean Speer and Philip Cross in a recently-released report from the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, this can be accomplished without a large-scale expansion of the Canada Pension Plan.
The commentary earned MLI an interview on BNN, an op-ed in the Globe and Mail and interviews on CBC Radio One stations across the country.
This was another entry in MLI's "From A Mandate For Change To A Plan To Govern" series.

One of Ottawa's most popular debate series is headed to the Big Smoke!
Walrus Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Kay will debate former Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander over the motion: "The terrorist threat has been grossly exaggerated in Canada".
Kay will argue against the resolution. Alexander will argue in favour.
This is the first Great Canadian Debate to take place in Toronto. The series, which usually happens in Ottawa, brings together some of Canada's most influential speakers to hash out some of the most important topics to Canadians.

Richard C. Owens writes in the National Post that the e-commerce provisions of the Trans-Pacific Partnership will only help Canadian business, innovation and consumers.

"It's hard to imagine how it could get worse", Cross tells BNN on oil prices
Falling oil prices. Big holes in government budgets. A confusing Canadian dollar. Gas prices that refuse to fall.
The economic outlook is not exactly rosy, Macdonald-Laurier Institute Senior Fellow Philip Cross tells BNN.
