"In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us." 2 Cor 5:19
Dearly Beloved in Christ,

In the parable of the Prodigal Son we get a window into the deepest desire of the Father's heart - to be reconciled to his children who have chosen to turn their backs on hm.

In Middle Eastern culture* for a son to ask for his inheritance while his father was still living was tantamount to saying to his father that he wished he were dead, that he had no desire whatsoever to have any kind of future relationship with him.  The father would have been well within his rights to punish and/or disown the son, and yet the father gives his son what he requests.  After liquidating his inheritance the son goes on a spending spree in a distant country, and eventually runs out of money.  After hitting rock-bottom he starts thinking of home.  He knows that there is no way he will be welcomed home as a son, but he hopes to persuade his father to take him on as one of his hired hands and sets out towards his father's house.

The father sees the son while he is still some distance away - evidently he has not stopped scanning the horizon in the hope that his son might return.  He does not wait until the son reaches him.  He does not berate or belittle his son. No - he RUNS to his son, hugs and kisses him before he has a chance to say anything!  And then throws the biggest party ever.  "We had to celebrate and rejoice," the father tells his other son, "because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found."

This is the costly, reconciling love of God that is so devastatingly revealed at Calvary.

The Father will never stop scanning the horizon for his children who have turned their backs on him, and the minute they start to return he is already running out to greet them - his only thought - to welcome them home, and to throw a party in joyful celebration.

In the Peace, Grace, and Love of our Lord,
Rev'd Sarah+

BEATING THE BOUNDS: PRAYERWALK
Sunday, March 17 at 4:00 pm
There is an ancient tradition of the church to walk, mark, and pray around the boundaries of the parish.  In England and other places in the Anglican Communion a parish extends beyond the boundaries of the church property and so the processions would serve to remind everyone living within those boundaries of the local church to which they belonged.
On March 17, 1883 this property was consecrated, set apart for holy use, for the spread of the Gospel message.  It seemed appropriate, 130 years later to the day, that we would renew that commitment to continue Christ's work on this property, and from this place into the surrounding community and the world.  In praying the boundaries we mark once again both in the physical and the spiritual realm a place consecrated unto the Lord and His Kingdom work.
The children are invited to participate in the procession and prayers, particularly in the children's playground where they will be invited to "beat the bounds" while singing:
We're beating the bounds
We're beating the bounds
We claim this ground in Jesus' Name
We're beating the bounds

We will close our prayerwalk by gathering at the outside altar which will be blessed by Bishop Greg.  Afternoon Tea will then be served to all participants on the back patio.

HELPING HURRICANE SANDY VICTIMS IN NJ
We are planning a mission trip together with Church of the Incarnation, Oveido, St Jude's, Orange City, and St Barnabas, Deland to Sea Girt, New Jersey to help with the recovery from Hurricane Sandy.  Fr Jon Davis has been in communication with the rector of St Uriel the Archangel Episcopal Church in Sea Girt which will be our base of operations.  He has also been making inquiries into the approximate costs per person (travel, supplies, food, etc.).  Depending on the total number of people the costs will be approximately $700 - $750 per person.  The probable dates are June 28 to July 8
We will be having a planning session soon with members of the other churches to firm up the details.  If you are interested in participating in this mission trip please call Terri in the Parish Office at 407 644 5350.
