2 Lent

O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom then shall I fear?  the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1  "Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield." Gen 15:1
Dearly Beloved in Christ,

Fear can paralyze us and lead us to make unwise decisions, but our fears are so often based in wounds that we have received that have become lies we falsely believe to be truths about ourselves.

Even without those wounds perhaps our greatest fears as human beings are that we won't be accepted, that we have no value or purpose, and that at death we will cease to exist.  But the pounding message of Scripture is that those fears are groundless because God values each one of us so very much that the Son came and died for us.  He loves us.  He loves you.  You are accepted, you are loved, you have a purpose in God's perfect plan, and because of his love for you he died for you so that death would not be the end of your existence but merely a doorway into an even greater existence.

It is why so often he admonishes us to not be afraid for "perfect love casts out fear."  Indeed, as the Psalmist says: The Lord is our light and our salvation, whom then shall we fear?  The Lord is the strength of our life, of whom shall we be afraid? ... Though our mother and father forsake us the Lord will sustain us.

May we live free from fear in the complete freedom of knowing that if God is for us who can come against us?  Nothing and no one (Romans 8:31)

In the Peace, Grace, and Love of our Lord,
Rev'd Sarah+

THE JOURNEY: An Anglican Catechumenate
Starts Saturday, March 2 - 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm
Those wishing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation with the laying on of hands by a Bishop, or those who wish to be received into the Episcopal Church from a different denomination/tradition, or those who are desirous of making a public reaffirmation of their Baptismal vows are invited to prayerfully consider attending this course.  Some leadership positions in the church require that the person be confirmed (eg vestry, Lay Eucharistic Visitor, Lay Eucharistic Minister).

It will be necessary for participants to commit to regular attendance.  The classes will cover such topics as Scripture, The Book of Common Prayer, Anglican Church History, The Creeds, the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, the Sacramental Life of prayer and amendment of life. There will be a small amount of assigned reading. The final session will be a mini-retreat during which we will explore our giftedness in the Holy Spirit and our stories as we prepare for the laying on of hands.

If you would like to register for this course please print out this form and send it in to the office
The classes will take place on Saturdays from 3:00 - 4:30 pm on the following dates: March 2, 9, 16, 24.  April 6, 13, 27.  May 4, 11.
Bishop Greg's Visitation - June 23

HELPING HURRICANE SANDY VICTIMS IN NJ
We are planning a mission trip together with Church of the Incarnation, Oveido, St Jude's, Orange City, and St Barnabas, Deland to Sea Girt, New Jersey to help with the recovery from Hurricane Sandy.  Fr Jon Davis has been in communication with the rector of St Uriel the Archangel Episcopal Church in Sea Girt which will be our base of operations.  He has also been making inquiries into the approximate costs per person (travel, supplies, food, etc.).  Depending on the total number of people the costs will be approximately $700 - $750 per person.  The probable dates are June 28 to July 8
We will be having a planning session soon with members of the other churches to firm up the details.  If you are interested in participating in this mission trip please call Terri in the Parish Office at 407 644 5350.

WORKDAY - SATURDAY, MARCH 9
workday banner Come and have some wonderful fellowship as we gather on the grounds for our Spring workday.  Bring along your gardening tools, and a few garbage bags for weeds, etc.  We're getting ready for our 130th anniversary and Easter!

MAGNIFY THE LIVING LORD - III
You are invited to share a thanksgiving you have of how the Lord drew you closer to himself.  On these journeys of faith that each of us are on we are called to be an encouragement to each other along the way.  I pray that the Lord will reveal to you how you can be that source of encouragement.  Please call Joy Sutton at (407) 830-5258 or email her here
