"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you." Jeremiah 1:4
Dearly Beloved in Christ,

These words were spoken by God to Jeremiah whom He had appointed to be His prophet and into whose mouth He put His own words.  You might not have been appointed by God as His prophet, but before He formed you in your mother's womb He knew you, and before you were born He consecrated you for His purposes.

Whatever your biological birth circumstances you were conceived in the very heart of God.  It might be that you have heard words of condemnation and rejection from your biological parents.  You might even have been told that you were a "mistake."  You are not a mistake - you are cherished of the Lord, designed in His heart, knit together by Him, welcomed into this world by Him, and redeemed from the way of sin and death by Him so that you will be with Him eternally.  And if you will spend time listening to His loving voice He will reveal to you the purposes for which He consecrated you.

In the Peace, Grace, and Love of our Lord,
Rev'd Sarah+

MAGNIFY THE LIVING LORD - III
You are invited to share a thanksgiving you have of how the Lord drew you closer to himself.  On these journeys of faith that each of us are on we are called to be an encouragement to each other along the way.  I pray that the Lord will reveal to you how you can be that source of encouragement.  Please call Joy Sutton at (407) 830-5258 or email her here

ASH WEDNESDAY
Ash Cross Wednesday, February 13
12:00 noon and 6:00 pm
Ash Wednesday Service of Holy Eucharist
and Imposition of Ashes
In the Chapel
"Dear People of God: The first Christians observed with great devotion the days of our Lord's passion and resurrection, and it became the custom of the Church to prepare for them by a season of penitence and fasting.  This season of Lent provided a time in which converts to the faith were prepared for Holy Baptism.  It was also a time when those who, because of notorious sins, had been separated from the body of the faithful were reconciled by penitence and forgiveness, and restored to the fellowship of the Church.  Thereby, the whole congregation was put in mind of the message of pardon and absolution set forth in the Gospel of our Savior, and of the need which all Christians continually have to renew their repentance and faith." BCP 264
I invite you therefore to begin the observance of this holy season by joining us in one of the Ash Wednesday services in which we are reminded with the imposition of ashes that "we are but dust and to dust we shall return"

Sunday Morning Lenten Series
Beginning on Sunday, February 17 Jim Sutton will present a video documentary by GloBible titled "In His Shoes."  The documentary moves between footage of modern day Israel and vignettes of the life of Jesus in the same locations during Jesus' day.  It includes both Biblical narrative and theological discussion by Biblical scholars.
9:30 am in Roberta's Hall: 2/17, 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24

WEDNESDAY MORNINGS IN LENT CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER
Every Wednesday morning during Lent our regular Noonday time of prayer will be expanded.  Beginning on Wednesday, February 20 at 11:00 am we will meet in the Prayer Ministry Room.  From 11:00 am until noon we will explore Richard Foster's book Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home and at noon we will move into the Office of Noonday Prayer.  This will be a  time of deep prayer.  We will lift up all those on our prayer lists slowly and intentionally, we will pray for all the ministries at Good Shepherd and the leadership, and we will spend time in silent prayer.  If you can only join us for Noonday Prayer please do so - this will be an oasis of resting in the Lord in the middle of the week.

WEDNESDAY EVENING LENTEN SERIES
The Book of Common Prayer invites us to an observance of a holy Lent (the 40 days beginning on Ash Wednesday)
"by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word."  BCP 264
Our Christian Formation classes during this season are designed to aid us in this observance.
This year Darryl Bloodworth will be teaching from his book Core Values for the Young (and not so young) Christian
In this book Darryl "addresses the age-old question of why so many of us who profess to be Christians do not live as Jesus taught." He provides "a practical method of examining one's behavior and holding it up to the values that Jesus described in the Sermon on the Mount .... and steps to internalize these values."
Our evenings begin with a soup or pot-luck supper in the Parish Hall at 6:00 pm followed at 6:30 pm by Darryl's teaching: 2/20, 2/27, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20
