And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth ... From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:14-17

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

"The law indeed was given through Moses, grace and truth through Jesus Christ."  And "from his fullness we have received grace upon grace." Law and grace. Two great theological themes that have taken up much ink and that are explored so profoundly in Victor Hugo's masterpiece Les Miserables.  Two men are born into similar circumstances of poverty.  For one life only makes sense when seen and lived through the very strict and structured lens of the law, which ends up binding him in his own legalistic prison.  The other is initially physically imprisoned and spiritually and emotionally imprisoned in hate and a desire for revenge.

But for him grace is given and received - a free and unmerited gift which turns his world upside down.  Such is the effect of this grace that the remainder of his life is lived with that grace and love overflowing through him to others.

From this Word made flesh, this Christ, we have received "grace upon grace" - may we live our lives revealing that grace and love, may it flow abundantly from us so that other lives may be freed from their prisons.

In the Peace, Grace, and Love of our Lord,
Rev'd Sarah+

Thank you all so much for the generous gift that I received yesterday (Sunday) on the five year anniversary of my ordination.  It is such a great blessing to me to be in ministry in this place with such a wonderfully generous and loving people. Thank you.

Bible Challenge
Many churches in the Diocese of Central Florida are taking the Bible Challenge to read through the Bible in a year.  I would encourage each of you to join me in this reading plan.
"The Bible Challenge is an interactive website designed to assist you to read and learn the entire Bible over the course of a year. By devoting 15 to 30 minutes a day you can grow deeper in your understanding of God's Word."
There are several ways to access the plan:
The Bible Challenge Website: Here
Download a .pdf file of the schedule of readings: Here
You can download the YouVersion app to your smartphone or tablet: Here
Then select "Reading Plans" then "Whole Bible" then "The One Year (r) Bible"  Make sure to start on January 1st.
You can also sign up to receive via email daily devotionals that go along with the readings: Here
Collect for the reading of Holy Scripture
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
