The Farmers' Market season finale is this week (Thursday)-thanks for coming out and showing your support!  Independence Day is almost here: please volunteer your time for the annual July 4th Golf Cart/Bicycle Parade (see below). Dog Permits & Collars are available at Town Hall. All owners must obtain a Town issued dog permit and colored collar for the dogs to wear while on the Island.

2012 Indpendence Day Golf Cart Parade Winner (The Sweet Taste of Freedom) July 4th Golf Cart & Bicycle Parade
8:30AM Golf carts & bikes assemble at SI Elementary School
9:00AM Parade begins

Volunteers needed!
Recreation Committee has identified the need for community volunteers to help serve refreshments after the parade.  Please contact Sarah Church (sarahforsullivans@gmail.com) if you can help with this much loved event.

Mark your calendars - the Town's celebration at J. Marshall Stith Park (2050 Middle Street) will be at dusk on Saturday, July 2nd

Summer Safety
Swimming Young boy running into the ocean.
Remember we share the ocean with a variety of marine life.  

Use caution when entering the ocean (swim at own risk)

Use the buddy-system with swimming in the ocean or pools

Children should be supervised by adults at all times in the ocean and wear life jackets in boats/ocean

Monitor ocean conditions for strong tide activity:

* Recognizing rip tides  

* Tips for handling rips tides

Refrain from entering the ocean in adverse weather conditions.


 

Mosquito Safety 
Minimize mosquito breeding & take measures to avoid bites-these are best safety measures to follow.
