At the time of this publication, it looks as though the Charleston area may escape the direct path of Hurricane Joaquin; however, we will experience tremendous rainfall in the next few days.  Please take this time to review your emergency preparedness plans with family members (resources below) and let the Town know if you need special assistance in an emergency evacuation event.  As usual, please visit the Town's website regularly for other current news and information.

Dog Permits & Collars at Town Hall

All owners must obtain a Town issued dog permit and colored collar for the dogs to wear while on the Island. 

 

Permit tags & collars are available at Town Hall (2050-B Middle St) 

Mon-Fri, 8AM-5PM

As we know, an emergency can be anything from a major hurricane to a house fire to flash flooding.

Remember to review your emergency plans and family communication procedures, especially for elderly family members and college students.

The Town stands ready with emergency preparedness resources (Click).  Please let the Town know if you or a neighbor will need special assistance in an emergency evacuation.  Also, National Fire Prevention Week (next week) is an excellent time for home fire prevention action!
October Special Event Activity
National Fire Prevention Week:  October 4-10, 2015
Residents are encouraged to ensure they have adequate and working smoke alarms. Contact our fire personnel if you have any questions or need assistance (843) 883-9944

NOTE: Unfortunately the Town's annual fire prevention celebration and engine parade will not occur due to Town Hall/Police Station construction.  

Isle of Palms Connector Run/Walk for Child
Saturday, October 3, 2015 (Race starts at 8AM)
Hwy 517 (IOP Connector) will be closed to traffic by approximately 6AM race day.  Residents should anticipate changes in traffic volume/flow accordingly. 
New Town Hall/Police Station- Construction Update
The new Town Hall/Police Station Project is underway.  The new Town Hall/Police Station will be located on Middle Street, between the Fire Station (2050 Middle) and J. Marshall Stith Park. Target completion: July/August 2016

Town Hall visitors may park in the designated parking spaces or along the right-of-way on Station 20 1/2 Street from Middle Street to Gull Drive (no streets close).  Visitors requiring handicap parking may access marked spots following signage on Station 20 1/2. 


J. Marshall Stith Park 
The Park playground and tennis courts remain open and are not effected by construction. Construction workers will work within the construction fencing.  Construction workers are authorized personnel, only, are allowed to enter the fenced construction site. Parents are encouraged to accompany children to the Park and/or discuss safety near construction sites with older children who will play in the Park without adult supervision.
