New Town Hall/Police Station- Construction Update
The Town held a Ground-Breaking Ceremony June 16th for the new Town Hall/Police Station, to be located on Middle Street, between the Fire Station (2050 Middle) and J. Marshall Stith Park.  Construction should begin in the near future - construction site perimeter fences are being erected today (site will remain open for Independence Day celebration and parking)!

line of road construction barrels Construction & Parking
Beginning Monday, July 6, 2015, parking lot demolition will begin. There will be no parking at the Town Hall site after this date.  Visitors may park in the right-of-way along Station 20 1/2 Street from Middle Street to Gull Drive (no streets close).

J. Marshall Stith Park
The Park playground and tennis courts remain open and are not effected by construction. Construction workers will work within the construction fencing.  Construction workers are authorized personnel, only, are allowed to enter the fenced construction site. Parents are encouraged to accompany children to the Park and/or discuss safety near construction sites with older children who will play in the Park without adult supervision.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience
during this construction process
Water Sports & Summer Safety Tips
Young boy running into the ocean. Swimming:
  • Remember we share the ocean with a variety of marine life.  Use caution when entering the ocean (swim at your own risk)
  • Use the buddy-system when swimming in the ocean or pools
  • Children should be supervised by adults when swimming, especially when entering the ocean and wear life jackets in boats and the ocean, if youth are not strong swimmers.
  • Monitor ocean conditions for strong tide activity:
          ** Recognizing rip tides
** Tips for handling rips tides
  • Refrain from entering the ocean in adverse weather conditions.

Heat:

  • Children and animals are particularly susceptible to heat exhaustion.
  • Hydrate often and ensure your children and pets do the same.
  • Use high SPF sunscreen and re-apply often
  • Pace yourself with outside activities, from yard work to beach-bathing, to avoid sunburns, heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
  • Signs of heat exhaustion include headaches, dizziness, clammy skin and/or nausea.  Seek shade and medical assistance if you or your loved ones experience these symptoms.   Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies.
We wish for you a safe and fun summer season
