Gardening Tips for Your Home!

Doing yard work? Keep these guidelines in mind:

RIGHTS-OF-WAY: No plants, fences, structures or obstructions are allowed in the right-of-way.
NO PLASTIC BAGS: Charleston County accepts clippings in paper bags (no plastic)
CUT limb sizes down: 4 feet or less
PACE YOURSELF: Town Contractor, Suburban Disposal, can only pick up small piles of yard debris from each home each week. Put out small piles each week to ensure it all gets picked up.
CURB IT: Yard debris is placed at the end of your curb on Tuesday evening for pick-up on Wednesdays.
CONTRACTORS: Carry it away. If you hire a landscape contractor, the contractor must haul away the debris.
NOTE: Suburban Disposal does not pick up yard debris on vacant lots or when it appears a contractor has worked.

Citadel Street Tennis Court & Playground
Nature Trail/Station 16 Boardwalk & Decks
Four candidates bid for the Nature Trail project and two candidates bid for the  Tennis Court project. The Town is currently reviewing the bids.

Protected Land
The Land Use & Natural Resources (LUNR) Committee of Council reviews and makes recommendations to Council on issues and activities related to the management of the deed protected Town beach front property.  The Committee reviews current beach front projects in furtherance of Town stated goals and monitors progress on the Town's comprehensive strategic Accreted Land Management Plan (still under development).  Click Here for mapping, proposed active management plan and other project information discussed at the March 14, 2014 LUNR meeting.
