Dear CHS Families,
Thank you to our CHS Administration and teachers for a great Back to School Night! Our student volunteers did a great job helping parents find their way to classrooms! Thank you to Mr. Barroll and our CHS Jazz A Band for a great performance in the PAEC.
On November 3rd several important local elections will take place. At our October 5th meeting, the PFC will be hosting candidates for the LVUSD Board of Education as well as the candidates for Calabasas City Council. This will be an opportunity for parents to hear from the candidates directly. We hope you will attend. Be sure to register to vote!
Remember, Monday, September 21st is an ODD Block day with support. Be sure to check the CHS website for important updates regarding school schedule and events.
Best,
Kate Vadehra and Nancy Ng-Gray

LIBRARIES WITHOUT LIMITS
|
Working in collaboration with The City of Calabasas Public Library, LVUSD has created an extensive e-book and database collection that is directly available to all students at any of our LVUSD sites. Students DO NOT need a library card to access these materials on site, but will need a City of Calabasas Public Library Card to pull up the materials from their homes. These materials include a comprehensive collection of over 700 non-fiction e-books with an average publication date of 2012, that support our curriculum and are grouped by grade level. These ebooks can be downloaded directly to a laptop or reader and allow for unlimited and simultaneous usage. In other words, an entire classroom can be reading the same book at one time. These books also have built in features that allow readers to actively engage with the text through highlighting and note-taking tools.
In addition to the e-books, students can directly access the databases that are available through the public library while they are on campus. These databases include products such as General Reference Center Gold, Literature Resource Center, Infotrac Newsstand and Opposing Viewpoints in Context. These databases contain a wealth of credible information that has been peer-edited and reviewed, and are products that are referenced regularly at the collegial level. Please take the time to view this site and take advantage of the resources that are available through this partnership between The City of Calabasas Public Library and LVUSD. The site is located at http://galepages.com/calabasas_main/resources. If you have any questions, please contact Tina Johnson, Library Media Specialist, at tjohnson@lvusd.
