PSATs are on Wednesday October 14th at 7:00am!
Calabasas High School will be offering the PSAT this year to 10th and 11th graders only. The 2015 PSAT is based on the new, redesigned SAT which launches in March 2016. The College Board redesign of the SAT and PSAT now includes a separate practice test for 8th/9th graders. CHS is not offering 8th/9th PSAT and is just extending PSAT sign-ups to 10th and 11th graders. The PSAT will take place in the Gym at 7:00am. Students must bring their school I.D., a calculator and two #2 pencils. Student must be registered to take the test.
|
PSAT registration begins
Cost is $25.00. There will be two (2) in-person days to register for the PSAT at the campus Student Store using cash or check on October 7th and 8th. Registration will begin on Sept. 15th and will continue until October 8th or until the PSAT sells out, whichever comes first.
The PSAT is a practice only for 10th graders. There is absolutely no reason to pay for test prep for a 10th grader to take the PSAT. 11th grade is the only qualifying year for the National Merit Scholarship program. 11th graders who score exceptionally high on the PSAT may qualify for National Merit Scholarship distinction. You can learn more about this on http://www.nationalmerit.org/. For any additional questions, please contact Robin Lutsky at rlutsky@lvusd.org.

 | At its core, service learning is learning through doing. Students work in the community to enhance their academic experiences, gain valuable skills, and foster civic responsibility. To this end, students are required to perform fifteen hours of service learning per year as a requirement for graduation. They then document their hours and write a brief reflection, using the form found here: www.tinyurl.com/chsservicelearning. Numerous service learning opportunities can also be found at that site.
|
Service Learning Opportunity:
TECH HELP is a drop-in program, designed to connect high school students with Calabasas library patrons who need help using their cell phones, computers, and software. Library patrons get the help, free of charge, and students earn service learning credit. The TECH HELP Drop-In Desk, manned by high school students, will be open in the Senior Corner in the Calabasas Library each Sunday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. To earn 2 hours of Service Learning on those Sundays, when busy schedules permit, contact Charlotte Meyer, TECH HELP Volunteer Coordinator, at 818 222-5679.
