Welcome back to our new and returning CHS families!
We hope all of our families had a wonderful summer! We are looking forward to another great year at CHS. We are fortunate to live in an area where education is valued and supported by our families and community. Calabasas High is an award winning high school with a tradition of distinction in academics, sports, and music. Your PFC Executive Board is comprised of a group of parent volunteers committed to continuing the excellence of Calabasas High. We welcome all of you to take an active role in joining our PFC this year!
What does our PFC do?
1) FUNDRAISING: The CHS Parent Faculty Club (PFC) over the past year has made a concerted effort to identify how we could support staff, students, and administration, in the areas most crucial to them. Due to the generous support of our CHS families we were able to spend over $100,000 last year to fund the purchase of 75 MacIntosh laptops, new books for the media center, continuing education training for teachers, repairs and retrofitting of book lockers and PE lockers. The PFC also funds many additional items that impact students, staff and administration at CHS, such as College Knowledge Night, Saturday School, Peer Support, Link Crew, Continuing Education for teachers, and supplies in the classrooms. The PFC is committed to raising these much-needed funds to support our students, staff and the academic excellence of CHS.
2) COMMUNICATION: The CHS PFC meets frequently with CHS Administration as well as our school district superintendent and district officials. The PFC communicates with parents on issues involving our students, school, and school district.

From the Science Department
Science education done right is enlightening, engaging, experiential and expensive. Walk into any science class at Calabasas High School and you are likely to see students involved in hands-on laboratory experiments or projects. Labs make the curriculum more accessible, encourage development of critical thinking skills, and hone writing and communication skills, all of which assure that our students are college and career ready. But these labs don't just happen. An exceptional group of very dedicated educators prep, supervise, and grade these labs. Equally important, parents provide both professional and financial support. The PFC generously funds our science department. In addition to supplying consumables, the PFC has replaced our aging microscopes and invested in 21th century probeware used primarily in physics, both also in chemistry and environmental science. So on behalf of myself and the entire CHS science department, I'd like to express our sincere appreciation for the PFC's continued support.
Dr. Deborah Bennett, Ph.D.
Science Department Chairperson
