CHS PFC eNewsletter

June 5, 2015

Dear Friends of the PFC:

Thank you Robin Lutsky for putting on a wonderful Senior Awards Scholarship Evening. We appreciate all the work you've done this year working with our students and worrying about our Seniors almost as much as their parents. It's a testament to your devotion to the students and dedication to our school. You are more than our Career and College Advisor, you are a mentor, shoulder to lean on, wealth of information, and mom to all our kids. We cannot thank you enough!

We want to wish Assistant Principal Steve Scifres congratulations on his new position as Principal at Bay Laurel Elementary. On one hand, we are miserable that he's leaving us, on the other we are happy he's going to be the Principal at another school in LVUSD. Mr. Scifres, we have enjoyed every minute working with you and for you. You have brought wisdom, enthusiasm and fresh ideas to CHS. You leave us with a great year of memories, but it was way too short. Bay Laurel will welcome you with open arms, and they are very fortunate to have you.

Senior Parents and Students please make sure to read the message below from Marla Klein regarding the last of the Senior activities and graduation. Speaking of Marla....how do we thank someone who works so hard for every single child at CHS??? If we listed everything she does for the administration and students you would be reading for 3 days. Principal Foss lovingly refers to her as our in-house Superintendent. Marla, thank you for ALL you do that most people never know. Thanks for your organization skills, kindness, energy, positive attitude, and doing the job of 5 people. We adore you!

Many Thanks,

Laura Ainsworth

Lisa Wayne

ANNOUNCEMENTS

***Attention Seniors***

Congratulations to our Senior class!

Important information for graduation: You must be at the rehearsal starting with a breakfast at 8:00 am followed by a presentation from your ASB, and then the mandatory rehearsal. You must be at rehearsal to get your tickets for graduation and to attend graduation. We should be done by no later than 11:00 am.

Tickets: Tickets for graduation are now only available at graduation at a cost of $20.00 per ticket. CASH ONLY. Everyone entering must have a ticket. Gates to enter will be open a few minutes after 5:00 pm.

Parking for graduation: Each year we have lots of cars trying to come into the lot, more than we can handle, and we urge you to park at the following locations. AC Stelle will be open at 5:00 pm and shuttles (3) will be doing loops from AC Stelle Middle School at 22855 Mulholland Hwy to CHS. They will drop you off at the field, and pick you up at the end of the ceremony to bring you back to your car. We also have a shuttle and parking at Chaparral Elementary School at 22601 Liberty Bell Rd. Streets around that area will be able to handle overflow parking as well and shuttles will be going until 8:45 pm, as they have in the past. Please use off site parking so the CHS lot is open for those needing assistance with wheelchairs and walkers. VIP parking that was purchased with VIP tickets will be allowed access to staff lot ONLY with authorized VIP parking pass visible on dashboard. Due to limited parking, no exceptions can be made so please plan accordingly.  Once the parking lot is full it will be gated. Police will be here to patrol and direct.

Gowns: Friday gowns can be returned starting at 7:00 am and throughout the day. Once you return your gown you will receive your diploma.

Grad Nite on Friday, 6/12:   All students must be at CHS by 2:00 pm. Security will be present to search all bags, jackets etc. prior to getting on the buses.  Do not bring any bottles, illegal substances, or guns (plastic or real).

There is a dress code to attend, but specifically, no extremely cut-off shorts or pants, no tattoos or shirts with obscene, lewd, or offensive language, graphics, or designs. Clothing that could be construed as indecent, exposing portions of skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment is prohibited (i.e., string bikini tops and bottoms, G-strings, excessively torn clothing).  No bare feet.

Everyone will enjoy Disneyland and California Adventure until 9:00 P.M. Then California Adventure will be opened for Grad Nite.  The gates to California Adventure will close at 10:00 P.M. and will not reopen until 2:00 A.M.  All students must be on their buses by 4:00 A.M.  Buses should be back at CHS by 5:00 A.M. at the latest.

The event is sold out.  However, we do have a waiting list.  Should any student wish to sell their ticket, please contact either Cyndi Bartok at cyndibartok@yahoo.com or Laura Ainsworth at laworth@earthlink.net

Hope everyone has a magical time!

Dear Calabasas High School Students and Parents,

Who let the dogs out? Peer Support did! Today at CHS, Peer Support organized their second Therapy Dogs Event in which therapy dogs were brought onto campus during lunch hour to assist all students in relaxing and de-stressing before finals next week! Bringing the dogs to campus was a significant success. All of the students were truly able to find pleasure in spending time petting and connecting with the dogs. By spending time with various dogs, students seemed to find themselves feeling carefree and cheerful. We hope your finals next week aren't too "ruff"! We wish you the best of luck!

Moreover, a huge congratulations to the 2015- 2016 Peer Support board members! For a list of next year's board members click here.

Thank you to everyone who applied for Peer Support for the 2015-2016 school year; we are looking forward to a great year!

Thank you!

Sincerely,
