Dear Friends of the PFC:
Happy 2015! We hope you all had a restful vacation and that you were ready to come back and finish the semester. It's amazing to think that the school year is almost half over. Please click here to find the FINALS SCHEDULE for the week of January 19th. It is also posted on the CHS website. Please note that January 19th is a holiday and the 20th is a Traditional Day.
Thank you to those parents that attended our January 3rd PFC meeting. Our next meeting will be on Monday, February 2nd at 7:00pm in the Lecture Hall. We host one evening meeting each year for those parents that are not able to attend a meeting during the school day. As with each meeting, PFC and school business will be discussed. We hope that you can join us.
Are you already trying to make plans for summer? Knowledge Counts will once again be hosting summer school and this year it will be at Agoura High School. Please be sure to read the flyer in this newsletter edition for more details and contact them directly if you have any questions.
If your student uses the City of Calabasas Shuttle service, please make sure that he/she has a paid shuttle pass. "Free" rides will no longer be extended to riders after January 1st. Bus drivers are checking for passes and any rider without a pass will not be allowed to board. Passes may be purchased through the City of Calabasas.
Many thanks,
Laura Ainsworth

Upcoming College Visit: FIDM (Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising) will be visiting during Lunch on Thursday, January 15th. All grades are welcome! FIDM admits students on a "rolling basis" which means you can apply throughout the school year for Fall Admission to FIDM. In addition, FIDM has a unique "Junior Acceptance" program whereby they will accept students in 11th grade to guarantee them enrollment in FIDM after they graduate high school. Stop by the College and Career Center on Thursday to hear about this and other opportunities at FIDM.
FAFSA and CAL GRANT: The FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is up and live on FAFSA.gov. DO NOT GO TO FAFSA.com or FAFSA.org! This document can be submitted for FREE -- if you go to a website that is charging you to submit the FAFSA you are on the wrong website! The Cal Grant GPA Verification Form is available in the College and Career Center. The Cal Grant form is an application for money for any higher education in the State of California for a California resident. This includes private and public 4-year colleges, all community colleges and vocational school. The FAFSA must be submitted before the Cal Grant. Students may bring the Cal Grant form to Mrs. Lutsky in the College and Career Center for GPA Verification. The form is then returned to the student. IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAIL THEIR OWN CAL GRANT FORM TO THE CALIFORNIA STUDENT AID COMMISSION! It is wise to check the FAFSA and Cal Grant deadlines that each college has set. Any questions, please contact Robin Lutsky at rlutsky@lvusd.org.

Attention Seniors!
Starting next week, you will be able to come to the counseling office to order your mid-year transcripts. All Common Application colleges will require you to send your mid-year grades. Please remember the UCs/Cal States and Non-Common Application colleges only need a transcript if they specifically request it. The yellow form will be available in the front of the counseling office. See your counselor with any questions.

HEALTH OFFICE INFORMATION

Notes From the Health Clerk:
It is recommended that students follow the below recommended practices by the California Department of Public Health for preventing the transmission of Enterovirus and other illnesses:
- Students with flu-like symptoms should stay at home. Flu-like symptoms may include:
- Fever (100 degrees F. or higher) or feverishness
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Body aches
- A feeling of being very tired
- Vomiting or diarrhea
Generally, health officials recommend that individuals who have flu-like symptoms should remain at home and avoid contact with others. They should do so until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever without the use of fever-reducing medicines such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
