CHS PFC eNewsletter

October 31, 2014

Dear Friends of the PFC:

As another busy month comes to a close we wanted to share with you that CHS has been busy with site improvements.  If you don't follow us on Facebook yet, please do!  It's one of the best ways to get current information.  For those of you that are not following the CHS PFC on Facebook, we wanted to share a recent post with you:

"Lots of great upgrades coming to CHS thanks to LVUSD and the PFC. Here's just one example.... for those familiar with the foyer and snack shack outside the gym, renovations are already underway with removal of old structures, a major cleaning, new lights installed and new paint. The floors, baseboards and snack shack counters will all be replaced. The PFC is looking into getting a new refrigerator to replace the old one that doesn't work properly and is not energy efficient. We want to be a Greener school in all areas possible."

Just a reminder when you are reading the following submissions from different departments, please contact the person that submitted the information.  We do not have any additional information to share with you.  We are just a liaison sharing the information with you that we received.

The fall sports season is coming to a close and we are looking for "parent and student reporters" to share what's happening with the winter sports.  Please contact us if you would be interested in submitting updates for the weekly eNewsletter.

Please join us for our next PFC meeting on Monday, November 3rd at 9:30am.  We are planning to meet in the Lecture Hall, but please check the front window of the Main Office to see if we have been relocated.  Be sure to sign in and out whenever you are on campus.

Wishing a happy and safe Halloween to all that celebrate.

Many thanks,

Laura Ainsworth

Lisa Wayne

PFC Co-Presidents

PEER SUPPORT TEAM NEWS...

Dear Calabasas High School students and parents,

The CHS Peer Support team is thrilled to announce that we are joining forces with Mayor David Shapiro in order to raise awareness against bullying. We are currently planning our anti-bullying assembly where we will be having celebrity guest speakers discuss the negative effects of bullying and help us keep CHS a bully-free environment. Peer Support was also recently mentioned in The Acorn in acknowledgement of all of our hard work and dedication regarding anti-bullying and our upcoming assembly. Please check out the article at  http://www.theacorn.com/news/2014-10-16/Community/Bully_beatdown_begins.html.

As a reminder, students can always find Peer Support Counselors at FRIENDS in room H117, which is open every day at lunch. FRIENDS is a place, where students can relax, hang out with other students, meet new friends, and ask any questions students may have, so feel free to stop by.

Please make sure to visit our website at  www.chspeersupport.com and like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/peersupportchs

Thank you!

Sincerely,
The Calabasas High School Peer Support Team

General announcement:

This past weekend Calabasas High School participated in the Drama Teacher's Association of Southern California's Fall Drama Festival.
We joined 1900 students from 76 other public, private, and performing arts magnet high schools throughout Southern California for a great day of competition and celebrating Theater!

We would like to give a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our CHS Theater Program.  Every group that we sent to the festival did extremely well.
A special congratulations to our award winning groups: Camden Garcia won first place overall in Monologues; Costumes took 5th place; Our Musical Group took 5th place; and the event "More than a Narrator"
took an Honorable Mention.

Because of the overall scores that our groups earned, we are proud to announce that Calabasas High School won 7th Place in Sweepstakes!

Once again, Congratulations CHS Theater!!

  • Students with flu-like symptoms should stay at home. Flu-like symptoms may include:
    • Fever (100 degrees F. or higher) or feverishness
    • Cough
    • Sore throat
    • Runny or stuffy nose
    • Body aches
