CHS PFC eNewsletter

September 26, 2014

Dear Friends of the PFC:

Two years ago the PFC and Principal Foss began the process of various district approved campus beautification and renovations.  It's a long list, but there have already been many things completed. We are pleased to report that Rhonda Bacot, LVUSD Maintenance and Operations Manager and Assistant Principal Lauren Young are overseeing the gym entrance/lobby renovation project that begins this weekend.  This has been something many of you have asked about for quite some time, but due to the expense and nature of the improvements needed it had to be carefully planned.  We are extremely happy LVUSD is moving forward with this and can't wait to see it completed!  Thank you to everyone involved.

Thank you to our parents for not dropping off or picking up in the Senior lot.  Your patience and waiting an extra 15 minutes after dismissal to pick up in the proper areas is really helping the flow of traffic.  We appreciate not having to ask PFC volunteers to manage the lot in the morning and write down license plates or take pictures.  This year we have had the most cooperation yet.

Joseph Frazier Benefit Showcase

August 25th marked the three year year anniversary of the hit and run incident that so badly injured our assistant coach and CSUN basketball alum Joseph Frazier.  The perpetrator has never been found.

Though Joseph's vital signs are stable, he remains in a coma and requires daily around-the-clock care.  Joseph cannot speak, move, or eat on his own.  Recently, Joseph was re-hospitalized for pneumonia.

With these tragic circumstances, Joseph's family makes heroic daily sacrifices and faces extraordinary medical costs.

On Sunday, September 28th, we will host our fourth annual fund-raiser on behalf of the Joseph Frazier Special Needs Trust.  Contributions will be gratefully accepted.

Many of the top high school boys basketball programs in Southern California will be participating.  All games will be 32 minute stop-clock games.

Please make all checks payable to:

STUDENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center is looking for volunteers for a couple of events coming up!

The first one is called
RAD Runs:

This race is held on Saturday, October 11th from 7a - 11a at City of Agoura Hills City Hall. It's in conjunction with the City of Agoura Hills Reyes Adobe Days celebration of their city and community. We NEED volunteers anywhere from 4a - 12p to help out with setup/breakdown, cheering runners along the race route, water stations and expo afterwards, etc. The first race is the 10miler and it begins at 7a. The second race is the 10k and that begins at 7:15a. The races will most likely end around 10a and then we just need help cleaning up afterwards.

If your students are interested, they can go directly to www.radruns.org, at the top, there is a tab that says "volunteers" and they can register directly online. If not, attached is our volunteer application and they can send it directly to me.

The second one is the Calabasas Classic:

This race is being held on Sunday, November 9th from 8a - 12p at City of Calabasas City Hall. This has three races - 5k, 10k and a 1mile fun run. We are looking for volunteers from 5a-2p. We don't have a volunteer registration form on the website yet, but they can go on there and check it out at www.calabasasclassicrun.com. In the meantime, they can fill out the attached volunteer application and send it directly to me.
