Dear Friends,

as the festive season approaches, what better time to partake in the joy of giving to those who need the most support?

A very small donation can go a long way.

In Thailand, as little as

5 Euros will provide a backpack to a minority hill-tribe child;

40 Euros a full set of 3 uniforms;

50 Euros transportation to school for one year;

80 Euros lunch meals for one year for one student;

and 180 Euros can fund the education and basic health care of one child for one year.

Join our season's drive to raise funds for underprivileged children's education. No matter how small, every cent counts. 100% of your gift will be devolved to our scholarship program.  Education for the very poor communities we assist is more than about learning how to read and write: it represents protection from the risks of trafficking and exploitation, and freedom to chose one's destiny. Over 2,000 children in need are enrolled in our scholarship programs, and 335 have already completed Professional School.
Help us make this dream come true for more children who are not yet in school. Let's join hands to help fellow human beings achieve their full potential and pave their path to life.

2015 will mark ten years of the Foundation's creation!  We are grateful and proud for the achievements made in this decade - the lives of thousands of children and their families have been transformed thanks to access to education, sanitation, and basic health care; we have contributed to the development of over 32 village communities; and we have successfully completed over 40 infrastructure projects.

All this has been possible thanks to a small dedicated team of passionate volunteers, with all funds received being devolved directly to projects on location. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our Board Members, to the many volunteers, private and corporate donors worldwide that have helped and contributed meaningfully to this cause, and to our local partners. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Our most sincere wishes for a joyful, meaningful, and fulfilling Holiday Season and New Year!

Sincerely,

Pasquale Pistorio

Intel Staff Walk in Memory of Uday Marty
On August 29th, over 100 Intel employees gathered at the MacRitchie Reservoir in Singapore, braving the heat and humidity to complete the 2-mile charitable walk in memory of Uday Marty, the company's Vice President who passed away tragically in a fatal fall on Mount Rainier in Washington during a mountain climbing expedition.

Uday Marty was admired and respected across the company, and known for his pro-fessional abilities but also for his passion for philanthropy and the environment.

The event honored the memory of a special colleague bringing together these two passions. The Pistorio Foundation was honored to be the beneficiary of the funds raised. Close to 5000 SGD raised will be contributed towards creating a computer lab at our professional school dormitory in Chiang Rai.

The Uday Marty's Computer Lab will be opened in 2015 and will benefit hundreds of our students.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the Intel employees who participated in the walk and generously donated funds towards the Pistorio Foundation. Special thanks to Yen Nee Goh, Takashi Tokunaga and Peggy Khoo for organizing and coordinating the event.

Participation in Tan Chin Tuan's "Tête-a-Tête Series"

On the 29th of September, the Pistorio Foundation's Director Elena Pistorio and the Singapore Chapter President Marzena Hughes participated in Tan Chin Tuan Foundation's (TCTF) Tête-à-Tête Series, which centered on theme "Learning to Give, Giving to Learn".  At the Tan Chin Tuan Mansion, guests included a BBC film crew that was keen on learning more about the legacy of giving by a philanthropic family, as well as a 1966 TCTF scholar and 14 newly TCTF scholars from Nanyang Technological University, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Republic Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The event, graced by the foundation's council member Chew Gek Hiang and hosted by CEO Su-Yin Yap, represented a wonderful opportunity for scholars, professors, Singapore-based NGOs, and business leaders to share ideas and become familiar with one another's work and accomplishments. The Pistorio Foundation had the opportunity to present its projects to the distinguished crowd.
