February 2015

Did you know that NSPE is the founder

of E Week?

1951 - NSPE launches the first National Engineers Week. With U.S. troops in Korea, President Harry Truman recognizes the week and emphasizes that with "the peace of the world hanging in the balance," the engineering profession should "rededicate itself to the peace and well-being of our common country." An editorial in The American Engineer summed up the inaugural event: "Couple a first attempt with the small amount of money from NSPE funds that was available for the effort, and one feels much hope for the future." - See more HERE.

Engineers Week Activities

National Engineers Week is being celebrated Feb. 22 to 28, 2015. This year's theme is "Engineering New Horizons."

Visit the NSPE website, www.eweek.org, for further details on National Engineers Week. This celebration raises public awareness of engineers' positive contributions to improving quality of life and promotes the importance of technical education and literacy in science and technology.
