Letter from the Headmaster

I didn't even know this school was back here. If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that expression, I could stop playing PowerBall. Rivermont is a special school, and we know that. However, there are hundreds of families in the Quad Cities area who have never heard of our school or stepped foot on our campus. I cannot imagine the regret if our family had lived in the Quad Cities and sent our children to public school, and no one had ever told us that Rivermont even existed.

Experience the RIVERMONT Difference is an event designed so that local area students can attend Rivermont for a morning to gain an understanding of what makes Rivermont distinct. The students will be learning in a class that has about half as many students as a typical public school, receiving the extra attention that enhances the learning experience. The visiting students will witness teachers that are knowledgeable, caring, and engaging. The parents will have the opportunity to tour the campus and to talk with administrators about the merits of a Rivermont education.

If you have friends, family, co-workers, or neighbors whose children would benefit from a glimpse of Rivermont, then please invite them to Experience the RIVERMONT Difference on either February 12 or March 15 from 8:30 to 11:30.

Now that college applications are completed and midyear reports are uploaded, seniors are:
  • Monitoring the status of their applications
  • Turning their attention to applying for scholarships
  • Keeping their senior grades up
  • Beginning their senior internships
Juniors have been very busy:
  • Analyzing results of the fall revised PSAT test
  • Preparing for the spring revised SAT
  • Choosing those teachers who will write college recommendations for them next fall
  • Preparing an Excel sheet listing colleges of interest along with application information
  • Completing a second draft of their rsum
  • Signing up for a rising senior conference to schedule classes for fall
Sophomores:
Next week sophomores will meet to review the PSAT10 which will be administered March 2nd at Rivermont Collegiate to all sophomores. This is the first year the College Board offered the PSAT10 - the same revised PSAT juniors took in the fall but offered specifically for sophomores at special spring sittings. Sophomores will take home a complete practice test after reviewing the test in a group meeting.

Freshman:
When freshman meet for fall sophomore schedule planning, they will also plan for their junior, and senior years using their individual Graduation Worksheet.
