Headmaster Letter

Happy Friday Rivermont Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. From all the stories and smiles, it seems that everyone had a relaxing week. It's hard to believe we are only two months from the end of the academic year. There are a lot of items to highlight, so hang on tight!

First, I want to give a huge shout out to 2nd Grader Brandon Hu, who was honored by Iowa Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds as the recipient of the Governor's Award as part of Youth Art Month. Youth Art Month includes over 200 participants, but only 12 are selected for the Governor's Award. Brandon was the only student from the Quad Cities selected for the Governor's Award. Well done, Brandon! Also a shout out to the Middle School students who are competing in the State Science and Technology Fair. Good luck to our young scientists!

A few upcoming dates I'd like to highlight:

  • Third quarter report cards will be released electronically today via Blackbaud. If you have any trouble accessing report cards, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to guide you through the process. Access instructions are posted on Rivermont's website - a link is included later in this issue of Paw Postings.
  • A reminder that the 2014-15 academic year March Freeze on tuition deadline is April 4th.
  • The Upper School Play, Radium Girls, is just around the corner on April 11th and 12th. Come out and enjoy an outstanding production! We plan to livestream the performance on the web so relatives and friends unable to attend can still see the show. Instructions on how to access the livestream will be sent out prior to the performance.
  • In April we will start a new Parent Education Series consisting of several seminars throughout the academic year on topics of interest to Rivermont parents. The first in the series, How to Keep Your Child Safe in a Digital World, will be offered on Wednesday, April 16th. We will also livestream this presentation on the web.
  • Saturday, May 3rd is Rivermont's pinnacle social event of the year, our annual Auction. Check your mailboxes over the next few weeks for your invitation to the Big Top!
  • Summer at Rivermont registration is going fast. The course catalog is available on Rivermont's website, including the recent addition of Minecraft courses (details later in this issue of Paw Postings - don't miss it).

I would like to take a moment to introduce to you a true artist on our staff whose work you see every day, but who you may not know. Mrs. Brittany Marietta, Rivermont's exceptional Marketing Assistant, is responsible for a wide variety of tasks from creating school publications to media relations. She is supremely talented, creative, and always has a smile on her face. She even has tremendous patience in working with a Headmaster who is usually running behind with his Paw Postings contribution. I cannot say enough about the tremendous effort and tireless work Brittany does behind the scenes for our students and school.

Best,

Todd Zachary, Headmaster

Kudos!
