Hear us ROAR!  
 
It was truly an honor to be at the state FIRST Lego League robotics competition this past weekend and have the opportunity to meet so many of our parents, faculty members, and most importantly, our awe-inspiring students!  I cannot be more proud of the dedication and effort that our students displayed as they tackled each problem and challenge with unparalleled skill and grace.  To earn a 3rd place state Champion's Award and the 1st place Core Values trophy speaks volumes to our tremendous coaches, faculty, and parents in providing both role models and encouragement to our children.  I am privileged to have the opportunity to join the Rivermont family.  Our future is limitless!

Destination: Space
Putnam Museum - Destination: Space 
2nd grade was invited to the launch of the Destination: Space exhibit at the Putnam Museum today, which included a NASA downlink call with astronauts on Expedition 34, currently aboard the International Space Station.
  
The call was broadcast in real time in the giant screen theater and about
20 students were able to ask a question.

What happens when parents are actively involved in their child's education?  Students experience greater academic success and positive attitudes towards school.  Faculty are more likely to report high morale and job satisfaction.  Parents gain an appreciation for the teacher's job and curriculum.  Faculty acquire an understanding of families' cultures and diversity, as well as individual students' needs.  Research has conclusively shown parent involvement has positive effects not only for students, but for families, educators, and the school itself.
