Headmaster Announcement

It is my great privilege and pleasure to announce we have selected our next Headmaster!  Please join me in giving a warm Rivermont welcome to Todd Zachary from Ambler, Pennsylvania.  Todd is an educator, leader, author, and lifelong learner who is eager to get to know his new Rivermont family.  He is a retired Air Force Colonel with over 20 years of military experience and the keen sense of strategic vision that you would expect to find in an Air Force Officer.  He charmed his way into our hearts during his visit and was the unanimous favorite of the students, parents, faculty, and staff who had the pleasure of spending time with him earlier this month.

Mr. Zachary's most recent position is Department Chair and Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at North Penn High School.  Before that, he was Head of School for the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Todd is a recognized leader who believes in strong community relations, expanded professional development, innovative technology in classrooms, and using a team approach to improve programs and curriculum.  Here is what he had to say:

"I was drawn to Rivermont Collegiate because of the unsurpassed passion and commitment of the entire school community; staff, faculty, and parents to the education and development of its energetic student body.  I am truly honored to join this remarkable school with its rich tradition and bright future.  I am eager to lead an incredibly dedicated and capable staff in taking the next step forward in guiding our children to success, both academically and in life.  Go Lions!"

Mr. Zachary will remain at his current school until the end of the school year and plans on moving to the Quad Cities over the summer.

Mr. Zachary was unanimously selected after an intensive nationwide search, led by Delia Meier and Amy Telleen.  The search committee evaluated over 50 qualified candidates, conducted phone interviews with 17, and ultimately brought three to campus for day-long interviews.  The members of the search committee included parents, faculty, and trustees.  We thank them for their tireless dedication to this critical process.

"Everyone on the search committee dedicated countless hours to the recruiting process, including deciding what qualities we were looking for, designing interview questions, reading through resumes and personal statements, conducting phone interviews, calling references, and coordinating the candidate visits." Meier said.  "I think it is obvious that the work paid off and we hired the candidate best suited to lead Rivermont into the future.  This is a great time to be a part of Rivermont."

Thank you for being part of the Rivermont Community.  We wish you a safe and happy holiday season!
