Wednesday, 11/21 - 11:30 a.m. Dismissal

Thursday & Friday, 11/22 & 11/23 - No School

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Rivermont Community for making our school the unique learning environment it is.  The extensive involvement of dedicated families and tireless work of devoted faculty and staff fuel the vibrancy and spirit of Rivermont.  Faculty create innovative learning experiences both in and out of the classroom, as well as step up on the court, on the stage, in the lab, and beyond to coach, sponsor, and advise student activities that wouldn't exist without their support.  Families not only volunteer, fundraise, and attend events, but offer reaffirming encouragement at home that fosters an enthusiasm for learning.  Between home and school, students receive a consistent message about the value of Intellect, Character, and Creativity.  Thank you for all you do - for the dollars, the hours, the support, and the commitment!

Headmaster Search Update

Dear Rivermont Family,

Over the past few weeks, the Headmaster Search Committee has been diligently working to screen candidates.  The committee includes trustees, parents, and faculty who are vested in the long-term success of Rivermont, and who have committed a huge amount of personal time and energy to the search effort.  The Headmaster Search Committee is comprised of:

Delia Meier, co-chair (parent and trustee)

Amy Telleen, co-chair (parent, trustee, and former student)

Taylor Davis (former parent and trustee)

Tom Melchert (Rivermont Junior Achievement leader and independent trustee)

Debbie Jackson (alumna and trustee)

Gwen Pokora (former parent and faculty)

Ed Knupp (parent and faculty)

Curtis Fee (parent and faculty)

Carrie Skillin (parent and faculty)

Ed Rogalski, Ph.D. (consultant)

I am delighted to report the committee has identified a number of promising candidates and is working to narrow the field for on-campus interviews.  Watch for updates in the coming weeks on the committee's progress.

Showcasing what sets Rivermont apart

Thanks to a generous donor, Rivermont recently obtained 4 Kindle e-readers for each classroom, 2nd-5th.  2nd grade teacher Erin DeSplinter reports she has already found the Kindles to be invaluable to the reading curriculum.  2nd grade reading groups are using Kindles for their novel study.  Students are able to use the dictionary function to immediately look up unfamiliar words and can highlight and take notes right in the story to refer back to.  Watch an Alice in Wonderland lesson in action - link to the YouTube video below!
